The discipline pays off. Congratulations on all of it, man. Most importantly, good on you for noticing the shift in style when wanting to deliver to a specific client or viewer. I don't think many photographers realize this is something we all have to be conscious of because it's natural and it happens to all of us.

Congratulations on your new opportunity. Bryan, you photos are excellent. Beautiful portraits. You are too tough on yourself I have been watching your channel for a while and it is great to see your continued growth. You are a humble person which I think is a way to keep you grounded but don’t forget to enjoy your successes and not tear yourself too much in the pursuit of excellence. Sometimes too much self reflection can inhibit us from recognizing how good our work is, or giving credit where it is due, in my experience. I wish you continued success as you move forward.
@BryanBirks Жыл бұрын
I’m still working on balancing out self reflection and self criticism and while I agree that I can be tough, I think that my self criticism has made me progress much faster than if I was complacent in myself. But yes, you can only do that so much and I’ll definitely be looking at chilling on the deep reflection and just focus on making work. Thanks for the comment and support!

at 11:15 this is a good shot, you are using the movements creatively, to 'selective focus' on what you want, and remove distractions with the nice blur curtain the format is known for! with the first car shot, you could have done the same thing, use Sheimflug principle on the car (as if it was a big product shot, in a studio)- aka the twin speaker shot in "Large format; a professionals choice" youtube video, by Calumet Photographic; and then add the person, using the iris setting to widen the dof to allow the person to be in the shot, and in focus.

As regards the portraits you put up this week, I'm glad that you decided to include the landscape oriented portrait of the guy with the blue car against the pastel pink house.
