Good video, selling options works well until it doesn't, then you get hit hard. Also spikes in Volatility can hurt you even if the stock price doesn't move.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, trading and investing carry a certain level of risk, as there's no guarantee of profit or a return on investment. The value of securities, commodities, or currencies can fluctuate and cause losses. And yes, selling options can be a lucrative strategy, but it also carries a risk, especially when market conditions are volatile. Options traders must be prepared for sudden spikes in volatility, as these can lead to significant losses even if the underlying stock price doesn't move. It is important to have a solid understanding of the risks involved and to have a well-defined risk management strategy in place before engaging in options trading.

I feel when it comes to the stock market, it all boils down to having proper risk management and a system that is back tested and proven, then opportunities become endless, each to their own though and if you're profiting from the strategies you find on KZbin videos that's also great!

Selling options do work well but I think a lot of investments do fail. For me, any strategy must start by looking at the sentiment and looking for opportunities in the opposite direction. Being conversant with the market is critical to successfully mastering the market and with a professional guiding be.

Indeed with the stock market, Executing your edge flawlessly is everything. Rookies especially should understand that the market isn't a game neither is it gambling, technical know-how is essential for profit making as there are many do's and don'ts involved

Hey Andrew, LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASIM in the intro of the video.... Love that BBT opened the Options room. I agree with Jim below. When going thru this video I would also add how you do Risk Management. For example, I put a Range order (Stop/Limit sale) in Das. That has saved my butt.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to provide feedback! I'm glad you enjoy my enthusiasm in the intro of the videos. It's great to hear that the Options room opened by BBT has been helpful for you. I appreciate your suggestion to also cover risk management in future videos. Incorporating strategies like stop/limit sales and range orders is an important aspect of options trading and I will certainly consider incorporating that into my content. Thank you for your support!

Hold it Andrew! You have said in the chat room that you don't have a lot of experience with options but in a very short period of time you have clearly explained how the puts work and used TSLA to explain the process! I have watched other videos , read an entire book on the subject....and this video brought me closer to understanding something about options than the other sources. More PLEASE!

Loving the new format for the recaps. What was the potential risk on today’s option trade?
@BearBullTraders
@BearBullTraders Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The potential risk is if the underlying security price rises above the strike price of the call option.

whats the risk management for shorting call or put incase trade doesnt go as per plan?
@BearBullTraders
@BearBullTraders Жыл бұрын
Risk management is an important aspect of any trade, and shorting calls or puts is no exception. If the trade doesn't go as planned, one common risk management technique is to set a stop-loss order at a predetermined price level. This will automatically close your position if the stock price reaches that level, limiting your potential losses. Another option is to use options strategies such as the covered call or protective put to hedge your position and manage risk. It's important to have a well-defined risk management plan in place before entering any trade.

Hi Andrew, when you sell your call options do you do covered calls or naked calls?
@Matt-jk2rc
@Matt-jk2rc Жыл бұрын
And vice versa for puts
@BearBullTraders
@BearBullTraders Жыл бұрын
Naked calls. The choice between covered calls and naked calls depends on the trader's risk tolerance and investment strategy. A covered call involves selling a call option while simultaneously holding an equivalent long position in the underlying asset, such as shares of stock. This strategy can help generate income and reduce risk, but it also limits the potential for gains if the underlying asset price rises significantly. On the other hand, a naked call involves selling a call option without holding a corresponding long position in the underlying asset. This strategy is riskier as it exposes the trader to unlimited potential losses if the underlying asset price rises significantly. Naked calls are usually used by more experienced traders who are comfortable with taking on greater risk. Both strategies have their own pros and cons, and the appropriate choice depends on the trader's individual risk tolerance and investment goals.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. I’m trying to understand options and more importantly the risk involved. I am struggling to find any videos out there that goes through the difference between naked and covered calls/puts and how a break even / loss is calculated. And also how it works if I was to sell a 200 call on TSLA for end of the week what it would take for me to lose any money. I would like more videos on this stuff if you can. Would be great.
