Always loved Vern’s game. People throw around the word shifty on KZbin. Vern is an ACTUAL shifty guard because he’s shifty and he SCORES with it. Being shifty without scoring means nothing. Hella people on KZbin with $500 moves and $5 finishes. Vern is shifty af, quick af, and is very efficient with it. It’s hard to beat that.

Vern's exceptional. I've never seen somebody in shape say midgame, "I'm too slow," but it's not even Tray's fault. TBH, he played an excellent game, too, but Vern's too fast to press because he can straight-line drive and finish quickly and explosively with either hand and is too precise to give space to as well. If he can make a midrange as others would a three, it's particularly dangerous because he is one of the few that has the speed to beat someone by an entire step in a 15 foot race

If that doesn't tell you what you need to know then you need to watch his games again. If that man gets goin' the games' damn near guaranteed to be over. Track record proves it. Kam's streaky and torches the majority. It's like a video game. Kam has quick combos that eat away your HP where as guys like Tae and Tray have powerful attacks that take half your health. Basketball is a game of runs and Kam goes on bursts of short damaging runs whereas Tray goes on long deadly runs.

@ that would be a good matchup. I remember seeing Vern in some of the East Coast indoor games and thinking there is not doubt he is a solid 5v5 player. But his speed is insane 1v1. Burke is so shifty and people don’t give him the credit for his ability at 5’11” to block even bigger wingspan guys down low. He gets up. I like to see him defend Vern on the rise and see how many he gets a piece of. That and both are genuine and humble players with huge heart.

Tray hit some really tough shots, but dang Vern don't mess around. Comes right at the neck with those layups and middies. Plays really good defense too. Also crazy to be able to counter at that speed, and that double cross was straight filth. Dont see double crosses like that much any more. Good stuff from both guys. Next game got me worried though. Feel like Daedae about to get fried. Really depends on the Daedae that shows up I guess.

the average level of talent in this season is super high! great game between two smaller names, Vern is super tough, I thought Tray lost his aggression midway through the game but just from the way he moves you can tell he’s really talented. The first step + middy pull up + counters makes Vern a tough cover excited to see more of him this season

This was just really good basketball for a 1v1. Seeing a guy stick to what works until it is stopped multiple times is almost 85% of YT basketball comment sections so this was refreshing to see from Vern after he adjusted away from shooting 3s. Not against seeing both these guys again but I’ll wait for game 2 to make a real choice on all these guys. See who is adaptable and improves from one meeting to the next and the environment.

Vern game is like Kam with the 3 point sliders turned down and the speed sliders turned up … Vern is so fast he had Tray thinking he was having an off day in the speed department, naw bruh, Vern just Fast AF boy!!
