We're strapping on the TacTec Plate Carrier from 5.11! This carrier is loaded with innovative features that offers comfort, flexibility, and safety to the user, and does so at an affordable price!
5.11 Tactical designed this plate carrier to meet specific needs, as requested by their contacts in operational environments. One of these requests was mobility. The 5.11 TacTec carrier allows for a full range of motion in the shoulder straps and the cumberbund/side pannel area. The TacTec uses the "yoke technology" that 5.11 has used in their backbacks, allowing for excellent weight distribution in the shoulder and neck area. The side pannels are an elastic mesh design, allowing both for comfort and increased airflow, as well as enabling the user to move in any way necessary without being hindered by the plate carrier.
One of the most interesting features of the TacTec plate carrier is the new 5.11 GrabDrag handle. This design allows the drag handle to be pulled out of the vest nearly 3 feet, while staying connected via a "leash" that is incredibly strong. This GrabDrag system promotes safety and ease of use in the field.
The TacTec plate carrier has an outstanding quick release design, that is easy to use either wearing the vest or as the responding medic needing to remove the carrier.
5.11 Tactical hit a home run with the TacTec! It is extremely comfortable, breathes well in hot temperatures, and offers all of the features their competeing brands do, and more. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
MSRP: $199

Been researching this plate carrier for most of the day, this video was most informative. Thank you, sir, I believe I am sold. My one concern as others have mentioned below is with the elastic material stretching out over time. Do you have any comment on that point?
@tangozulu
@tangozulu Жыл бұрын
I have had this plate carrier for over 7 years and the elastic is still in good order, don't forget that should it ever wear out it is replaceable and can even be upgraded and changed for a rigid system if you so wish with a little bit of customization. I have extensively modified mine to include, quick release side buckles; interchangeable front placards using English Virtus issued front panels that are also 8 rows of molle wide and have the buckles already in place, drag handle modification that has a cobra buckle system that connects to your belt. this means when you are dragged the drag handle goes thru the plate carrier and drags you from your middle back of your belt system, this stops the plate carrier riding up and choking your neck.

Nice video, however I never see anybody do review with side plates. I get it most people don't think or care to run side plates, how ever some of us do or have to comply to unit SOP. Since 5.11 does make a side carrier for its TACTEC with 6x8 plates in mind, could you please do a review of these.

Although it is not very popular, I think it is a great carrier (especially for the price point). I have one in OD green that I bought several months ago. I pondered on which carrier to buy for a long time and I took a gamble and bought the 5.11 TacTec carrier over other options such as the Banshee, etc. I wish I had a great review like this to reference and steer me at the time of my purchase; I wouldn't have spent so much time trying to figure out if it was really as good as it looks - and it surely is! Great review and thanks for taking the time to put this on KZbin. Best Regards, Chad

Nice review! Can you elaborate on the "large" plates you placed in the vest. What were the dimensions? It is not clear if a 11X14 plate will fit in the carrier.
@Tactiholics
@Tactiholics 9 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the video! I currently have 10x12" plates in the carrier (I misspoke about the size we used in the video) but there is room to spare - enough that an 11X14" should fit just fine. I'd call 5.11's customer service before ordering just to make sure but I doubt it'd be an issue. That being said, even my 10x12 plates are held securely in place and don't bounce or slide around so this rig does a great job of holding your gear where you want it! Thanks for the comment, I hope this helps!

Having never worn or used the Banshee, but doing some look into that carrier, I'm guessing they'd be comparable. However, I do think (again, without running the Banshee) that the 5.11 yolk system on the shoulder straps would be more comfortable. The Banshee offers a nice feature by having integrated mag pouches...maybe we'll dig one up and run them side by side! Thanks for the comment, I hope this helps!
