One thing I have experienced loading 5.56 onto military stripper clips. I loaded up some Wolf steel cased ammo on some stripper clips and it was harder than hell getting it to slide off the clip. I guess the steel cases cause more friction than brass ones do. FYI.

Tip to make packing the cans easier. Take 2 metal bookends and clip the long leg off, smoothing the metal. As an alternative, 2 pieces of thin sheet aluminum with a bent lip wide enough to get a grip on. Metal should be about twice the width of a folded bandoleer that is ready to pack. Place bandoleer 1 in the can, take one of the metal pieces and put it in the can with the lip over the bandoleer, slide the 2nd bandoleer in place and pull the aluminum sheet out. Repeat for the other 2 bottom row bandoleers. Put 1 metal "guide" over the back bandoleers and one over the front, then use them to help separate the front and back bandoleers. Leave the "guides in place and use them to help slide the center bandoleer in place, pull them out, and fold the straps in. Pack the top row, fold in the strap, put a dessicant pack in and close up the can.

1ST ASSURE THE STRIPPER CLIP WAS SMOOTH AND HAD A SLIGHT WIPE OF CLP ON THE SLIDE > RIP THE TOP FROM THE 20 ROUND BOX AND PUT IT ON THE SHELL BASES, INVERT THE BOX - THEN RUN THE STRIPPER CLIP DOWN THE ENTIRE SIDE OF 10...FILLING THE STRIPPER CLIP IN ONE MOVEMENT. REPEAT FOR THE 2ND STRIPPER CLIP. MOVE TO THE NEXT.

When I pack the 5th bandolier I do not fold the hem line, I let it hang down and tuck that excess material into the empty space. It makes the 5th bandolier just a little bit skinnier and just a little easier to put in. My two cents

I just order my ammo already on stripper clips and put it straight into the can. Cardboard box’s and bandoliers is way to time consuming for an individual stash in a combat setting. Bandoliers only serve a purpose when distributing ammo during major combat \ trench war fare because a bandolier can be slung fairly far to anyone in need of ammo. Good video though

Make yourself a friend with a good vacuum sealer, and vacuum seal the ammo either still in the box, or on strippers to fill the magazine before vacuum sealing your bag. (Noting 3 strippers per standard magazine) or 3 strippers clips per vacuum sealed bag before pocketing into a bandolier.

Amazing vid. now I can actually use my ammo cans and bands. I'd still cut out 2 squares of cardboard for the top and bottom if I think I'm going to transport or store for long periods. personal preference from seeing bent rims causing jams from rattling around. but I think that was due to not understanding how I can actually use the bandoliers and just stacking ammo inside them.

You don't want to leave the ammo in it's original box because the cardboard can absorb moisture, but then you put the ammo in a cardboard sleeve and a cloth bag that both will also absorb moisture. Seems like a lot of pointless work.

It’s being put in an air tight ammo can. That is what’s protecting the ammo, and putting it in bandoliers is simply for convenience and easy deployment.
@theaccount6282 жыл бұрын
I am a fan of the bandoliers and stripper clips, WITHOUT the cardboard. The synthetic bandoliers are unlikely to wick moisture into the can, unlike the paper cardboard which will indeed act as a moisture drawing substance. Side benefit of losing the cardboard, is the ability to fit four of the ten-round stripper clips into each pocket, bringing each pocket up 40 rounds, and each bandolier at 160 rounds

If they are stored corectly this is no problem, but if you put your ammo into ammo cans it is easier to store them, especially if you don't have a room where the conditions are right for long term storage. Plus if you story your ammo like this it is easier to acces in case of an emergeny, i don't but them into bandeliers, but this is a good was too, because you don't have to take the rounds and put them into your pocket if you need to take more, you can just sling one or two bandeliers over your shoulder and be back in the fight. I think i will no buy atleast enought for one ammo box, the rest is stored in stripper clips in the boxes or loose. I have some ammo in cardboard boxes too because i don't want to buy as much ammo cans, but i use them every 5 years and buy new ones.

Two things to mention; (1) Bandolier v Bandoleer: A bandolier refers to a linked belt of ammunition that can be slung and carried as is. A bandoleer is a strip of cloth that is capable of holding ammo or magazines that can be slung for carry. I've got ammo cans with the description written both ways. Over the years, I've seen bandoleers stamped with the nomenclature varied both ways. (2) Critical; handling ammo with your bare hands (for long term storage) is a definite no-no. The moisture, acid and other contaminants on your fingers will eventually do more damage to the rounds than the moisture attracted by the cardboard strips used to silence the ammo for carry. Always wear a clean pair of white cotton gloves when handling ammo for storage to keep it looking factory fresh and corrosion free. When you get old a .30 Caliber Can (loaded with 420 rds) weighs half as much as a .50 Caliber Can with 840 rds. I put 12, 30-rd cardboard holders upright in the bottom of the can, add 3 folded, empty bandoleers w/3 spoons, put two more 30 rd cardboard carriers on top, and call it my "Load Out" cans. The best place to get great ammo cans is "CleanAmmoCans.com". PEN/SWORD USMC '67-'69 Semper Fi

There are different types of cardboard. I have a couple of .223 cases I polished and put in an ammo can simply sitting in a USGI cardboard insert and some others in an American Eagle black 20 round box. The ammo in the AE has some very light corrosion (rust *colored* staining on the brass) where it was in contact with the box. The USGI cardboards don’t mark the brass in this way. Unsure exactly how cardboard is “graded” but there is a difference. I do prefer 50 round plastic flip boxes though.
