Sir I think... y2 - y1 = -1 hoga. Kyun ki y-axis mein jab hum niche jayenge tab y ka value decrease hoga. Toh y2 will be less than y1. So their difference will be -1. Isliye book mein xk-1/m diya h.

sir last equation book me jo diye he wo sahi h i.e xk+1 = xk-1/m ..... since you have took y2 as previous point and y1 and next point , So x2 should also be the previous equation and x1 should be next equation i.e x2=xk and x1 = xk+1 ......so result will be xk+1 = xk-1/m
