Seeing the drone footage of you making your way to the ruins really helps a person to understand just how the land elevation changes in such a dramatic way. Really great seeing the distance from above.👍

You need to do this when you're young, especially since the south of Italy has no healthcare system to speak of. Great that you have your own water supply. That's by far the most important asset.
@LilianaLepore-r7b3 күн бұрын
The health system isn't that bad! And it's better than a lot of places😂
@jacquesmertens33693 күн бұрын
@@LilianaLepore-r7b It's mainly non-existing, as far as I know. But I understand you're a local? Every time I check properties online I look for nearby hospitals and I can almost never find any decent-sized hospital with a good reputation. It's easier to find animal hospitals.

Those caves could be great to store your liquid gold from those olive trees :-) Be careful with increasing the height of the small ruin #2 because that means you'd be adding built volume which requires all kinds of permissions. The other cave/cellar could be a perfect summer bedroom, it's most likely a lot cooler than in the house.

This could turn into something spectacular. The combination between permaculture and hospitality is a great way to also earn some money to invest in the homestead again. But boy you have found a golden opportunity. My humble advice would be to invest in a small digger and a mini tractor/mower . My past experience has shown me that these 2 tools are incredibly valuable for clearing roads, creating paths, clearing around the ruins etc … Also I would suggest to start with the roads and clearing the land first. It is so much easier to bring in materials and such for the construction. You guys are young. In 5 years you will look back and realize how much you have accomplished. I will follow your journey. It’s a beautiful place ♥️
@anotherhomestead2 күн бұрын
@@growingpatience8015 Wow, thank you so much for this comment - much appreciated and valuable advice. We will for sure invest in a digger in the future, coming on the next video we dug a big trench by hand and this was really a lot of work - but also very rewarding, but we understand that with a digger this would have been a really fast job 😃. Thank you for watching and supporting - much appreciated ✨

Oh heck yeah - so glad to find you as you start your KZbin journey with your new future homestead! Wishing you all the best in the new year - thanks for sharing and looking forward to your progress! On wild boars, I spend a couple years stationed in Germany in the US Army. Sometimes when we went into the field we encountered wild boars and you can imagine the ridiculous scene of a bunch of soldiers with guns screaming and running away like little children when we encountered an angry sow. I am actually more scared of boars than our local bears 🤐
@anotherhomestead2 күн бұрын
Hahaha - this is hilarious! When Emily first heard of the wild boards she thought they ate humans as their food!😂It's really interesting to observe their behaviours around the land and how they move through the land. Wed really like to get a night-time camera to see their movements in the future. Thanks so much for watching, new videos coming really soon. Wishing you the best for the new year too!

The potential is huge, congrats 🙂! I'm managing a similar project in the Liguria region. Little suggestion, maybe you did it already but double check the real estate registry of the municipality about the existance, status and compliance of those ruins and caves, before investing time and money in them. I don't know how relaxed the local administration is on building permits but these could be a pain in the ass anyway.

Exciting time in your lives, so much to do. You say you will not be there for the olive harvest, are you actually intending to live on the property or is this just a utube project? I like your laid back presenting style and interaction with the camera. There’s much work to do before you start to reap many benefits, I’m sure if you’re willing to put the work in you will end up with a beautiful home.❤

The ugly English name, broom, for the beautiful plant called Ginestra in Italian. It makes beautiful and good smelling yellow flowers. It could be used for its fiber. There might be companies in Italy that uses it to make fabric. It could be an economic resource. Think about it before clearing.
