Hello! Great videos, thank you very much. In 9:59 of this video you say we can name the nonce whatever we want. So I did not use the string 'wp_rest' but another name. The result was that I got a 403. As soon as I modified it to 'wp_rest' I got a 200. It took me a few hours of debugging to find that the name of the nonce caused the 403. So maybe things changed in the meantime so that it now matters how we call the nounce. Or it has to do with something else. However, maybe this information helps someone.

@oluochwilliam663 жыл бұрын
Hello. Your Videos are quite awesome. I have a question I really need your help with. I have been following your "How to Convert a HTML Template to WordPress Theme" tutorial, and it worked perfectly to the end on the WordPress instance A I used for development. When I finish the development and try to install as a theme on another WordPress Instance B, things are much different. 1. I notice that my theme is heavily dependent on ACF Plugin that doesn't come with the theme because the plugins folder is placed outside the theme folder on the WordPress folders inside "wp-content". I have unsuccessfully tried to include ACF Plugin on theme install. I only get as far as having included the Field groups. I end up missing the values entered on the sub-fields on the created pages on the WordPress instance A. 2. I also realize that my theme comes without pre-created pages that house the ACF sub-fields. I have to manually recreate the Pages to have the sub-fields appear, and even after doing this, they end up being blank, and I therefore, have to re-enter the sub-field values which happens to also be bulky for a new user and hence not attractive from a selling point. Question: Is there a way I could package my theme or include php code such that: 1. It includes ACF Plugin on installing the theme on a new WordPress Instance. 2. Have the pages housing the ACF sub-fields, pre-created and therefore, the ACF sub-fields showing to allow for easy editing of the WordPress theme by a new user. 3. Have the ACF Sub-field values appear with demo values already entered on the pre-created pages for the new user to be able to easily manipulate the website data. I think this would be a very attractive model. I have tried to do it for a month and have come up short. I am sure you taking a shot at it and cracking it would actually get a lot of traction on KZbin because nobody has actually been able to do it, and I actually think you can. It’s why I asked.

@MM-lw3ve2 жыл бұрын
This may be a really ignorant question as I am fairly new to WordPress, but why would you use something like custom fields over a theme creator such as elementor which appears easier to work with than the custom fields? Thanks Mark
@neovim.2 жыл бұрын
Page builders like Elementor 1. by default load a ton of scripts which for sure affect the site performances 2. while they can do many things, there are still things they can’t really do as they are designed for non developers whereas using custom post type, you have a full control of your site

Follow his custom theme development videos and you can learn. Nobody is going to create an exact custom theme tutorial you'd want so you have to either learn yourself or pay someone to do it.
