Gotham Knights has a lot of easter eggs that are actually really fun callbacks to the Batman comics and mythos, so I thought I would take a look at some of them. I thought this would be a lot of fun, especially since a ton of you love the videos I made about the Batman Arkham series easter eggs. I was genuinely surprised when I started playing Gotham Knights. At first, I wasn't expecting much but I am delighted to say that I have grown to really love the game and all of its subtle nods and easter eggs!

Yeah I really enjoy games that respect the source material and do thought out easter eggs etc and GK does do that well. I am not personally a huge fan of how they handled Batman himself in it but otherwise I've enjoyed the game.

While I can’t play the game (due to not owning a ps5 or series x), watching the cutscenes and seeing the characters interacting with each other is pure gold especially Dic and Jason.

The "Cock King" makes an apperarance in the Harley Quinn animated series. He wins a "Villie" award, and the Joker laughs at his costume - a giant 🐓

Penguin's a villain whom I feel was always underused in the movies. I'm still very shocked to this day the Noland-verse never used him, he woulda been so perfect in a crime-family centered continuity like this one. At least this game uses his character a lot, which I applaud them for. He was always one of my fav spotlight villains in the Arkham-verse once he came in in Arkham City.

Hey Jayo, you missed some of the most important easter eggs; there are photos in the Belfry of Superboy and another of the Birds of Prey, near the batcomputer. Also, the leaderboards of the arcade machine reference multiple other DC heroes.

Something to note about the Monarch Theater. One of the interactable inside the theater hints a band called "Mucous Membrane". This is neat because the lead singer of Mucous Membrane is none other than John Constantine.

Off topic, there has been some recent news about Gotham Knights that upsets me. The devs did some maintenance for the game a few days ago and they announced it like it would fix bugs in the game or something. However, the maintenance didn't really fix anything and a lot of players are kinda frustrated right now. This is disturbing since players still have glitches with Gotham Knights since launce and it's uncertain if the devs are even focusing on fixing problems. If you're wondering where I'm coming from, a KZbinr named SunnySyde recently covered this if you want to hear what he has to say. Basically, I'm starting to worry if the Gotham Knights devs might not even care about their community now.

These add fuel to my pet theory that the game absolutely started life as an Arkham Knight sequel before there was some sort of shakeup in the production.

I really think they should have made a stand alone batman game with the same story except replace the knights with Batman and the title with Gotham’s Dark Knight and then years later they could make a Gotham knight game after they’ve made a few Batman games and fleshed out the characters.

Honestly, I think it would be better if they just started with a fresh slate and tried something that hasn’t really been done before, rather than a copy and paste of modern Assassin’s Creed games with Batman characters.

I think the world itself with some of the character interactions is underrated, but the gameplay is not. There are certain things the game does that are really creative, with the court of owls collectibles being one of them and the belfry interactions being another, but there's also just missed opportunity after missed opportunity imo

@@vanillae91819 Its just not a good game. - The story was cool (more or less) until they gave up on the Court of Owls. - Mission design is terrible, forcing the player to do a bunch side mission just to be able to play the main story again is bad design. - The crime events are complete garbage as well, there are only a handful of them and they are repetitively boring to do. There just bad in every game tbh. - Collectables are awful just like pretty much every game that has them, pointless waste of time. - Abilities could of been better but having some of them be locked behind terrible challenges isn't fun especially since you have to do them for each character. - This is yet again another looter RPG that has no reason to be one and everything related to it is done poorly making it only a slight step up from Marvel Avengers. - There arent that many suits (this is just a nitpick). - Combat is okay but not as combo driven as I thought it would be, I wish they did more with it. - Enemy types are extremely repetitive and unoriginal, playing on higher difficulty just gives them more health which is not how games should do difficulty modes. - Their version of Gotham is extremely boring to look at compared to AK, I kinda like the special locations but that's it. - Heroic Assault was garbage, I have no clue why I expected anything more than what it was. Plus most people that defended the hell out the game didn't even bother finishing it, I get people like time waster games (I do to) but this isn't worth any amount of time. Also, only 23% of people actually finished the game (Steam) so idk why so many people love making it sound like it was the best game ever created or even within 2022.
