The history brush tip was my favorite - that's pretty cool! I knew the others except for the super color-picker. That's pretty neat, too!

I started using PhotoShop way back in 1995 with version 3.4. Imagine how good I would be if I had only kept at it! Actually, I'm a retired biologist and my first experience with digital image processing was on a Zeiss IBAS in 1986. That predated PS by a long shot.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the SuperColorPicker. Maybe interesting about fading filters: Like you said, normally this is only available in edit-menu as long as you didn't do anything else. If you convert the layer to a smart object and then use a filter, you can always change how strong the filter is, or which blendmode it is using in the smartoptions of the filter. There is a small icon on the right of the the label, where those options are accessible.

You are right, Smart Objects will give you similar functionality, Fade has been around a lot longer than Smart Objects and used to be the only way to do it, but I still find those times where its perfect, especially while painting when you don't want a smart object.

Hi Colin, I have created three individual actions and would like these actions to automatically play one after the other, how can I do this, any ideas? The actions are dodge & Burn, remove blemishes and apply skin smoothing, they work fine if I play them one after the other manually but would like to automate this, can you help.? I thought if I started to record a new action, but the played each action during the new recording it might work, but I failed miserably. I had lots of problems getting the individual actions to work so I don’t want to have to record them all over again as one longer action.

Great tips! I knew none of them. Would the first tip be a replacement for your technique of applying a low-opacity Gaussian blur to a background copy in overlay mode as you have taught as a final polish for images?
