Some while back an old friend who was a Captain in the Marines told us 2000 rounds per gun (not type) 10 mags per gun (not type) So if you own 2 rifles and 2 handguns you should have a total of 8,000 rounds of ammo and 40 mags

The .308 isn’t better at defeating body armor than 5.56. The velocity of the 5.56/.223 has better penetrating power. Look at the NIJ standards for body armor and the Level 3 body armor will stop 7.62X51 but you need level 3+ to stop 5.56 M190 or even level 4 to stop the 5.56 M855 green tip. This can vary slightly according to different manufacturers but most manufacturers and practical demonstrations show 5.56 penetrating where 7.62 doesn’t (not that I want to get shot with either). In fact, the new M855A2 ammo is even spicier. Only a level 4 rifle plate will stop that one.
@arminiuschatti2287Күн бұрын
No guarantees a level 4 will take 2-3 M855A1. Check out IraqVeteran8888’s assessment. Quite the eye opener.

You carry a .22 with a suppressor and a 9mm every day? Really? One minute a .22 is ample protection. The next minute, a 9mm is not powerful enough. You're a walking contradiction. You might want to stockpile the type of ammunition for the weapon you're the best with. If that's a .357 I would hope you would have lots of it and .38 on hand. That and a lot of speed loaders. Or buckets of .40 or 9mm if you own the other type of gun. My wife and or I would always grab a box or two of 9mm or .40 when went to the Sporting goods store. We "used to" do it like we were buying milk. We just always picked up more ammo. I was very surprised how much I had accumulated. I had to buy a second safe to store it all safely.

As for your 308 going through a car door, is true but a 22lr will go through a car door and if close enough it goes through the car!

There is no said number that is correct or even incorrect. Well other than zero. Let’s be honest. What are we planning for? I retired from the Army in 2018. I have rifles, pistols armor etc. The most important thing I had in the Army was fellow soldiers. You have 10,000 rounds of 5.56, good for you. A Ham radio and a tourniquet, great. But who are you calling for backup? Who is treating you after you get hit? You need a team. And some people with more than just an AR. I wish these videos would talk more about team tactics and setups and less on people bugging in or out and possibly finding themselves in a world of hurt.

While it’s not an option here in Australia, I would of thought a key point to learn how to repackage your existing stock pile. Keep the brass and reuse for training I.e wad cutters for example. I would also include a revolver only because it is basic, simple and unlikely to cause problems as opposed to other options.

WW3 or SHTF? If you’re fighting WW3 on US soil, you most likely won’t be using a civilian firearm or your own ammo because, by that time, you’ll already be commandeered under the NDAA and it’s a genocidal war of survival. In SHTF, an asymmetrical attack or MAD Exchange has wiped out our infrastructure and rescue is far away, if ever. In that case, your neighbors and roving marauders will be your concern. Some points to know: 90% of people are cowards and will prey upon soft targets before coming after you; 9% will commit to an assault but run once casualties are taken; 1% will follow through. For the budget prepper, in my humble opinion, your MINIMUM cache should be 90% 22LR, HP Copper Jacket paired with a magazine fed, semi-automatic with large capacity magazines; 9% should be 5.56mm bonded SP paired with an AR-15 with M4 feed ramps and the new EP Magazines; 1% 12Ga 00 Buck paired with a Beretta 1301 Mod 2 plus 50Rds #4 shot for drones (logic: the 1% guys are probably armored, it’s a bit unorthodox but go for the head with the 00 Buck); 100 Rds 147 Gr HP +P per each 9mm pistol (logic: your pistol in SHTF is for danger close and you’ve got nothing else) My formula for amount (don’t be lazy, do all the towns and cities in these ranges individually): Count every population within 10 miles of your last stand location that is over 1,000; Count every population within 20 miles of your last stand location that is over 2,000; Count every population within 30 miles of your last stand location that is over 5,000; Count every population within 40 miles of your last stand location that is over 10,000; Count every population within 50 miles of your last stand location that is over 30,000. Now you must do each of these towns individually. Divide by 8 (8 General directions on a compass), multiply by 0.9 if there is a forest between you and that population, multiply by 0.8 if there is a river you must swim between you and that population, multiply by 0.7 if there is a mountain ridge between you and that population, multiply by 1.2 if you live in an area that is known to grow food and multiply by 1.1 if you live near a military base (logic: people believe military bases are a place of security and safety and people will be drawn to that and will turn to looting nearby locations when the help isn’t provided). Then you divide that cache into the percentages I discussed earlier.

Still inaccurate as usual from this channel!! Since when is "buck shot" a caliber?? LOL. so many inaccuracies from this channel. do they even do research? a rifle chambered in 7.62X51 WILL shoot 308, but not necessarily the opposite. Chamber pressures are higher in NATO rounds.

I would volunteer. Glock 22 including 9mm conversion barrel. The barrel can be swapped in less than a minute allowing you to utilize 2 calibers .40 and 9mm. No I did not have convert any internals for it to function. Actually my G22 wouldn’t function 9mm until put everything back original. The mags have .015” difference on the feed lips so they work also. Next up AR15 5.56 with CMMG .22 conversion. Takes 30 seconds to switch out. Again two calibers one platform. Both conversions will fit in your pocket and allow you 4 different calibers. Those 4 calibers paired to an AR15 and a Glock platform are probably the 2 most available types of firearms in the USA. You will find refills and replacement parts just about anywhere people own guns during civil unrest.
