Hubs and I are simple people, we don't want a slide because we don't want the risk of more repairs, the extra set up/tear down time, we like to stealth camp and camp in small spaces. We want to be able to pull into a parking lot and go to bed then wake up and go. No muss, no fuss. Thank you for doing these tours, we are loving looking at all the options and hearing your review.

I bought a 1991 Fleetwood Jamboree Class C for $6000. It had been parked for most of the past 10 or 15 years so I changed all of the fluids from the radiator to the rear differential. I put 6 new tires on it and Bilstein shocks. I remodeled the interior with new flooring, faucets, and so on. I have to say that I prefer mine to any of these. One thing that I prefer is two single beds. My wife and I can sleep together at home. Two singles give you easier access to overhead storage and easier access to get in and out of bed. I don't care about a TV but I did add a computer. Our shower is across the hall from the bathroom and both have plenty of room. We are happy and saved about $100,000! In the cockpit, I added a stereo with a screen that comes out and flips up. I added a rear view camera. It's powered by a Ford 350. Another little thing I did that was a big improvement was a switch from incandescent lights to LED's inside the home. Incandescent bulbs can get hot enough to melt the cover and that won't happen with LED's. Also, you can choose LED's by wave length. Bright white for the bathroom and hall. Softer color for bedroom areas.

Hi Den, That sounds like an awesome remodel and I'm sure you saved a ton of money! We did the same type of thing when we bought our Class C. We found a 2008 with under 9,000 miles on it and bought it for a fraction of the price of a new one. New Water heater, roof, fixtures, water pump, and shocks plus a few other mods and we are good to go! Thanks for watching and commenting! Hi Tranka, Many of our videos show our RV and so do many articles on the website. But we really don't focus on showing off our modest 2008 Class C RV very much. Susan wants me to remodel it before we show it off more and I don't have time to remodel it. We are just way too busy. I think we might move up to Class A at some point and maybe we will show that off.

I love that you take the time to measure and describe things so thoroughly. Sometimes I wish RVs were made of more customizable components that you could swap out. For example, instead of the couch @ 9:00 I would use that space for a small clothes washer/dryer and maybe some storage.
@JustMe-ys6jj3 жыл бұрын
I think it's because of the electric and pipe lines, that's why they don't usually have options. Nexus and lazy daze are the one I'd seen offering customization. But you have to pay extra for the customized options. 1 second ago

Hi sdraper... Always good to hear from you! We were considering remodeling our Class C but there are so many wires, pipes components etc that have to be moves it becomes quite a process. It all depends on your camping/travel/living style. I don’t want a slide out for the reasons you mentioned and personally it’s not necessary since we (2) spend most of our time outdoors including most cooking. We don’t have a tv, microwave or oven. If you are camping but stay inside the rv/motor home all the time why not just stay home? Two favorites; the Coachman Freelander for the split bathroom, L-shape kitchen and lots of big windows. The Jayco RedHawk, split bathroom, L-shape kitchen, walk around bed and the door separating the bathroom and bedroom from the front. I like all of the overcab beds which for us would be storage space.

My reasons for hating slides: 1. Weather proofing - slides are inherently thin on insulation. I'm a 4 seasons camper and in both hot summer and cold winter, they leak your heat/cool out and add way too much surface area to absorb the outside temps. 2. Layout - These can add a ton of space but limit the usable space to almost 0 if they're in. We like boondocking when traveling and sometimes you're stuck not being able to use part of your rig if you're in an area where slides are not allowed (e.g. Walmart parking lots and Cracker barrel parking lots). 3. Maintenance - Most of us aren't rich and RV breakdowns can get expensive. Slides can be nightmares for that especially if they're stuck open and you can't get to or there isn't an emergency slide retract. Oh and God forbid you having a hydraulic line blow.

Another reason to opt for no slide outs - when doing alot of traveling and boon docking, some overnite locations like truck stops, walmart, cabellas etc. may not allow slideouts to be extended, which, depending on floorplan may make sleeping, cooking and bathroom access very difficult or impossible.

We have a 2019 Jayco Redhawk 27N and we love it. We really need the open access to both sides of the bed because our knees just won't let us crawl anymore - we're both in our seventies! There is one thing that all of these models have in common - poorly placed TVs! At our age, proper posture is extremely important, and there's just no way to position the TV where we can be comfortable watching a two-hour movie. I'd love to see a video where you relocate the TV - for example, across from the sofa where you could sit comfortably and watch. We are not the type to watch TV in bed anymore. And what about replacing the sofa bed with recliners? Is that doable?
@RVBlogger Жыл бұрын
Happy to hear you love your Jayco...besides TV placement. I wonder if there are any KZbin videos with TV re-placement. As for the recliners...you could check RV furniture stores. We have a blog article that might help. Thanks for watching and commenting. rvblogger.com/blog/rv-furniture-replacement-guide-sofas-couches-recliners-dinettes/

100% .. a walk around bed is something I am looking forward to getting in the near future .. Fold-out bed is what I am stuck with at the moment .. TVs are dysfunctionally-clunky , bogus, energy & space wasting, and add cost too .. I just use a notebook computer w the largest screen size. If one is crazy enough to use a wall-mounted TV is should be replaced with an "all in one" computer, imo.

We love having the split king in the back. It’s our favorite feature of any that we’ve owned. We don’t need and don’t use our slides. We would much rather have a larger bathroom with a decent sized shower and lose the dinette.
@RVBlogger Жыл бұрын
So glad you're loving your split king! I completely agree about ditching the dinette for a larger bathroom!!! Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting.
@RVBlogger Жыл бұрын
@@user-3tf67bk46u Thank you for such a thorough comment. Hopefully I can answer all your points. Dinette. Typically there will be at least a stand alone table so you are not totally without a dinette. It's just not permanently attached. Beds. Size of RV bedding is definitely a point of sacrifice but you can always replace the mattress for something more comfortable. The refrigerator panels are made of a very lightweight material. There's not much added weight to the RV or stress to door hinges. As for an RV made out of wood...now that would be extremely heavy to tow. Most materials used in the construction of an RV is designed to be lightweight and sometimes avoid damage due to leaking. Wood wouldn't be beneficial in either situation. Looks good but not practical. Hopefully this answers some of your questions. Thank you for watching our tour video and commenting!

Even harder to place an order for a new LD. Glad I ordered mine in 2014. Mass produced Class C’s will always pale in comparison to a LazyDaze.

Another great informative video, Mike. Thank you The ones that have the separate bathroom and showers are nice, just wished the plastic curtain was grey or smoke... You know when the kids/grandchildren get to that modest age... Also wish in those shower's they would have a extra large sky light, being 6'3" it seems like i need to wear the sky light as a hat... Having said all that my Wife and I are getting a Jayco 24b with a full slide, hopefully no issues with the slide Thanks again for the video

2 main reasons we don't care to get a slide: 1: risk of break down and repair cost 2: we like to stealth (yes I know we are in a camper) but we can't access all the rv with a slide in if we are in a parking lot or in a narrow wooded area...
