Don't know how I missed your video on this. You did a great job I am doing a 6 bed private pay and rooms. This was my plan before covid. My area here in Maryland have some both private and semi. I feel I will do well with all private. Also, I am doing level 1 and 2 care. Again, dear you done a great job. I am looking how for a property just got approved for a mortgage.

From my experience it’s not required but that’s something you’ll have to verify with zoning and planning in your city ordinance.

How do you manage the Gas and Eletric bill for a AL ? And do you suppose to get a business account with the gas and electric company?

It works the same as if you would do it for your personal home. You would just pay the bills out of your business account.

I want to do this in California. Just starting to research this, anyone with websites, or free information sites to point me to as a starting point is greatly appreciated. I have been in healthcare for 22 years and am a Registered Nurse, MSN now and considering opening a home with a business partner. I’m in the process of opening a 6 bed facility. Two are private two are simi private. I was planning on hiring a manager but after listening to you video I’m wandering if I can afford to do that. Of subject but have you had to have any of your facilities hardwired with smoke detectors if so around how much do you remember it costing. I’m waiting on three estimates I had done yesterday.

First, congrats on opening up your own 6 bed facility. Yeah, it all comes down to what your residents will be paying you. That will ultimately be the factor that will determine if you'll be able to pay for full time manager. I didn't have to hard wire any of my smoke alarms. Due to the fact that the home that I am running my own residential assisted living is fairly new so therefore I didn't have to install anything. Hopefully it doesn't cost you too much.

Can you elaborate on 2 person facility? My SO has been a CNA for 8 years and she wants to start on her own. How do you get started making a 2 person facility? We have a home and would have them live with us in 2 separate rooms.

Of course. This is more for people who can't get licensed right away for reasons being that they need to get their home set up to be licensed. The best way to do this is to have experience is the health care field, and to talk to families that you know or are close with. Most families won't place in a home that isn't licensed to take care of the elderly.

Privates would be a lot easier to fill than semi privates. If you have 6 bedrooms, than do 6. If you only have 4 bedrooms, than your only option would be to do two private and two semi privates.
