Ultima Online is an MMORPG from 1997. This game revolutionized the MMORPG genre, and it's seeing a resurgence of new players! However, this RETRO video game is difficult. CHALLENGING game play and lack of tutorials means NEW PLAYERS struggle to learn the basics.

Pretty wild, but yep! Still around. This is technically a private shard, but the “official” one is still alive as well. Both the official shard and Outlands are free so I’d definitely recommend giving it try!

Outlands is the absolute cadillac of private shards. 4 years running with a popping population and a dev team that makes modern day Blizzard look like absolute clowns. Highly recommend it.

Now I know they say you can come back years later after you quit playing it and your character will still be there but I wonder what you have to do to get your character back if you can't remember which email you did in the password because I would love to get my characters back. And I'd start playing again

completely brand new player to outlands, i picked a bard thanks to help on their discord and am having a blast! after 2 months of playing I can finally afford a cheap caravan and it is so satisfying

I played UO in the late 90's through the early 2000's. I loved PVP and was fairly good at it. I stopped playing when all my friends quit and moved onto other games. A few years ago I learned that they never actually delete your account or characters so I decided to reactivate my account after nearly 20 years but I was getting absolutely clobbered in PVP. So much has changed in terms of PVP strategy and I couldn't find any good resources to learn what to do so I ended up quitting again. For nostalgia I'd love to play again but I wish someone could point me to some resources where I can learn how to PVP in the game effectively.

I watched this. But I am completely confused. I installed Enhanced. Just went ahead with default warrior starting on default New Heaven. Talked to Helper. There's so much stuff around. It's overwhelming. IDK where to go, what to do, or anything. It would be great to have a demonstration guide with default warrior on how to at least just start.

Can I add a tip? Come play uoAlive Custom shard to replace the dying OSI shards also pvp can only happen with consent, perfect for newer players who a worried about being killed by players. Great video! So glad to see people still striving to make content for a now niche game.

I play on both server and I like UO alive alot but sadly it's just OSI. OSI is weird and you notice that the devs switched alot. Outlands is the unofficial uo2 with so much new and unique content! I like to play on alive when outlands is to crowded and I just like to grind in ui :>

Ohhhh no :( are you playing the retail version of UO with the Client provided by Broadsword? If I remember correctly you should be able to click and drag the bottom right of the screen to resize. Is the playing screen already bigger than the dimension of your actual monitor? You can go into settings, video (or graphics I forget the name), then manually enter the values of the size.

But isn't outlands technically a private server/shard? As in... not technically legal? Because a lot of this doesnt seem to be the same on the official servers. Like it doesnt come with razor and the ui isnt scalable, and if you use the enhanced client then entering combat mode isnt TAB. I feel like a lot of these tutorials kinda assume you play outlands and don't take the official clients into account at all which is kinda odd to me

That's 100% a fair point. As for legality, there are so many shards and official UO hasn't said anything for so long that it's most likely in a gray-zone--though to be fair I'm not a lawyer. UO Outlands--although a private shard--is one of, if not the most, popular and populated shard for Ultima Online. Beating out even the official shards. Hence why so many videos focus on it. Additionally, it has been able to achieve an incredibly strong community. If you prefer the official servers that's fantastic! I agree that many creators do simply just focus on Outlands, but at least IMO it does so many things right that it makes it a clear choice for my play style. All the best!

Tip 1... No, that's not what a shard is... a shard is a server, either retail or private hosted emulation server... Tip 3... If you're going to be making a "tips" video for new players... mention that the classes are just templates for certain toons, but ultimately the skill system is 100% custom...

outlands is the shittiest you can't even use your newbie dagger to farm cloth to buy regs so you can start off as a mage/bard to actually make some money
