Nice video! When stacking objects like trees, you can hold ‘x’ while dragging and it will snap to the center of the object at the bottom.

This is a really nice tutorial for beginners! Couple things I think are worth noting though... Firstly I love the look of the layered props to create a dense forest floor, but doing so will create more strain on your system, so those with lower spec machines may struggle to render it all smoothly. Secondly, Hero Forge integration is native now, so you don't need a mod for that.
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
Definitely puts some strain on it if there’s too many, people will have to gauge that for themselves. The heroforge thing is super cool too, I’ve been meaning to do another vid about the mods and heroforge integration since it came out. Although the custom unit integration mod has been F’d since the cyberpunk patch >

Just stumbled on your video and I really like how you break some stuff down. I love the tool, but it's been crazy trying to figure stuff out on my own. Not sure if you touch on it later, but can you advise on how "big" you should make the zones? Sometimes I feel like spaces just get overwhelming.
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on how quickly your game starts chugging, or on your players limits too. I’d head to talestavern.com and check out some of the maps there - some of them are enormous and beautiful but impractical to play in, because more assets = more lag. That line will be different for everyone
@josephmoreau96152 жыл бұрын
Is there a maximum size for the battle map? Also, do you have to purchase assets within the program?
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
It comes with a ton of them in every category, and all the mods are free obv, but if you want to import minis you've made in 3rd party websites like Heroforge, you'll have to purchase it from them. I stress getting as many mini mods as possible because the more variety you have, the better time you'll have setting up encounters etc.

Aaaand now I have to buy this software. Idk If I'll be able to convince my players to get it but damn does it look good.
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
So only a few of my players actually have it, what I do for those that don't is just stream my screen to discord and during combat they tell me where they want to move. You can use different tiles to block out their view of different rooms to keep things hidden, so the only downside is they can't move their own mini.
@artemisdarkslayer2 жыл бұрын
@@ItsNket I will have to give that a try. It'll be a bit before I know it well enough to try running the game with talespire. But I'm excited to learn some new tools.

@@ItsNket While I haven't used it for a game sesh yet (kinda waiting for the Weaver portion to really go nuts), one thing we discussed for my table as I had gotten several copies was to have the GM screen, then a handful of "player perspectives".

This is fantastic, but I'm having a problem with the ctrl modifier - the game isn't letting me mush objects together like how you did with the rocks and the trees, its only letting me raise and lower the object :/
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
While you're holding CTRL it'll only let you move up or down like on a Y axis, but once you release CTRL it'll move along the X axis and you can mesh it. You hold ctrl to pick the height and then it will stay specifically at that height and you can sneak it into other things. Hope that makes sense in text!

How much of a performance hit is it when your add floors to eliminate grid lines? Negligible?
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
The more assets you add, the more your performance is going to be affected. The floor tiles are fairly large so you don’t need as many of them to cover a space as you would something like ferns - but like everything else it’s going to hit your performance.

Just as a general question. If you use mods for extra miniatures. Do players also need to download those same mods in order to work?
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, everyone will need the mods in order to see the placed units. Kind of a setback, but they’re relatively easy to get. Also, if you’re using heroforge transformations, everyone will need those data files so it’s even more of a pain. We circumvent it by usually just streaming Talespire from DM perspective, but that ain’t the greatest for everyone.

Does stacking multiple objects impact performance at all?
@ItsNket2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely. The more assets you have on the board the more your frame rate can chug. I have small battlemaps for random encounters that glide smoothly, and large cities where the frame rate tanks. Depends on your system but still a definite yes

Depends on your system, I guess. But brother you should see some of the cityscapes made by some people, they make this look like a loose handful of objects by comparison.
