ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: 5 Best Nutritional Herbs For Dogs
5 herbs dogs can eat that provide the best source of nutrients.
Simply choose one or all of them and add them to your dogs diet in rotation or simply as an extra nutritional health boost several days a week. Doing this gives your dog fresh herb based whole food nutrition, rich in complex synergistic health benefits.
NUMBER 1 Turmeric improves digestion by stimulating bile production from the gallbladder, soothes intestinal muscles, is a powerful antioxidant and protects the liver.
Turmeric is one of the best ways to reduce inflammation, the driver of most disease in the body such as cancer, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders and bowel disease.
Give 75mg per 15lbs of a dogs body weight twice daily. This is a great herb for arthritic dogs.
NUMBER 2 is Alfalfa, packed with protein, it provides a rich source of vitamins and minerals.
Alfalfa nourishes the digestive, skeletal, glandular, and urinary systems. Alfalfa has also been shown to be effective for dog arthritis and inflammatory joint disease. This is a great herb for a dogs immune system.
NUMBER 3 is Oregano, packed with vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A,C, E, B6, K, as well as iron, magnesium, calcium and potassium.
It's essential oils are anti inflammatory and anti microbial known to aid the healing of allergies, asthma, digestive problems, flu, gum disease, mange, yeast infections and kennel cough.
NUMBER 4 is Dandelion. This herb is a bitter herb that benefits dogs by breaking down fats in the body and stimulating the digestive system and reducing inflammation.
Dandelion will increases circulation in the body and helps to heal the inflamed lining of the lower gastrointestinal tract. It's also excellent for reducing lipomas or fatty cysts on the skin by helping to remove toxins through the kidneys and liver.
Give your dog a 1/2 drop of tincture per pound of body weight. This is an excellent herb for dogs inflammation.
NUMBER 5 is Milk Thistle, a proven liver rejuvenator, but is exogenous (not found in common food). Your dogs liver is its largest internal organ and works around the clock filtering toxins from the blood. Because the liver works so hard at filtering and eliminating all of these toxic substances, it is highly susceptible to serious damage.
The recommended tincture extract of milk thistle contains 70 to 80% silymarin and should be labeled. Give the tincture starting dose of 1/4 tsp. per 20lbs of your dogs lean body weight per day divided by two daily doses.
This is a great herb for the dogs liver health.

Couch grass is an anti-inflammatory, mild antimicrobial and pain soother. It’s also a diuretic, which means it can help encourage waste elimination. How To Give Your Dog Couch Grass For UTIs Simmer a heaping teaspoon of the chopped dried root in 8 oz of water for 20 minutes. Cool and strain the liquid. Use a dropper or teaspoon to place in your dog’s mouth (1/2 teaspoon per 20 pounds of body weight twice daily). You can also add it to your dog’s water.

I just found your channel and I want to say Thank You for sharing your knowledge. I've recently switched my pits to a home cooked diet and I'm trying to learn everything I can, your channel has been very helpful. However, I just rescued a pit that weighs 28 lbs she's over a year old. I feed a diet of rice, sweet potato, kale, green beans, small amount of fruit (twice a week). I would love to be able to purchase some of the things you mentioned, however I'm not in the financial position, my question is... Can I feed them veggie greens ie ... Carrot tops, radish tops, beets greens etc.??? Thank you for your help 🙏 Kendra
@DanScott1
@DanScott1 2 жыл бұрын
Your welcome Kendra. Carrot tops are actually healthier for you than the orange stem, an amazing bitter herb that we should all eat, well at least in my smoothie to hide the bitterness. So yes, use all the veg, greens and base. Dandelion greens from the yard/park are good too, just watch they have not been sprayed/pee'd on. The veg is best part cooked and blended. Look to add some protein, as much as possible. Eggs are great, just crack and serve, canned sardines (in water) are awesome. And talk to local butchers for any waste meaty bones for free/cheap. And if you can afford it, some raw green tripe is great dog food as it's a complete nutrition food. Pits are beautiful dogs, love them.

I have a tincture of alfalfa and nettle infused in 80% vodka. Can I give that to my 60 pound Staffie mix ? Also, are you familiar with the anti inflammatory benefits of the “yucca” plant grown here in Tennessee and other locations?
@DanScott1
@DanScott1 8 ай бұрын
Why.. is he a drinker? Seriously though, alcohol and dogs don't make a good paring. I love nettle though. Yucca: Contains healthy levels of vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, niacin, phosphorus and B vitamins. Good for joints, appetite and better than steroids. I'd use it as condition specific and not generally as it can irritate the digestive tract. 1/2tsp per pound of food. If wanting to use it regularly, miss out two days per week.

What would you recommend I should do I can I do I can't afford to take her to the vet in these pressing times please help me.

Use this on the ears, simply spray silver 2x daily for a10 day protocol and stop: : amzn.to/3gJ16i3 At the same time add these soil based probiotics to the dogs food at every meal: amzn.to/3yoURqU The diet has to change to affect an overall cure. Add more fresh food to the mix and take out 30% of the meals kibble and replace with eggs, canned sardines ( in water) and part cooked and blended veggies. Add live enzymes as desparately needed: amzn.to/37MrINq Start any new food/supplement small and slow for a few days to get used to it. Do the above, it's the minimum but will improve things so much more. Just add the eggs raw. Stop the doggy biscuits and use some liver treats or carrots. The general idea is to lessen the carbohydrates and raise the proteins.

Can we give AMALA (Indian gooseberry) to dogs?
@DanScott1
@DanScott1 Жыл бұрын
It's funny, have not eaten these in years and actually like them. All western data says no and the general consensus is that they are toxic to dogs. However, in India, where it comes from, Ayurveda medicine says the opposite: Amla (Emblica officinalis) Amla fruit (Emblica officinalis), also known as Indian gooseberry, is one of the richest sources of bioflavonoids and Vitamin C. Native to India, this plum-sized fruit is revered for its anti-aging and immune system-enhancing properties. Each amla fruit contains up to 700 mg of Vitamin C. This natural ascorbate is synergistically enhanced by the bioflavonoids and polyphenols contained in each fruit. In fact, research has shown that the potency of the 8.7 mg of natural Vitamin C complex in amla is equivalent to 100 mg of the most commonly used synthetic Vitamin C. It is interesting to note that the natural ellagic and gallic acids in amla protect the Vitamin C from oxidation and increase its potency. Amla has traditionally been combined with several other herbs and spices. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, it has been particularly indicated for anemia, asthma, bleeding gums, diabetes, colds, chronic lung disease, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, yeast infections, and cancer. It also increases lean body mass, accelerates the repair and regeneration of connective tissue, and enhances interferon and corticosteroid production. Amla also acts as an antacid and anti-tumorigenic agent. In addition, it increases protein synthesis and is thus useful in cases of hypoglycemia. Amla is more beneficial than was previously imagined. Dosage: 500 - 1000 mg every 12 hours for dogs and 100 - 250 mg for every 12 hours for cats.

My 6 yr old Anatolian Pyrenees has developed a lump where he was bitten by a neighbor's pit bull he chased out of my yard. Would this likely be a lipoma? Likely fluid filled? It is starting to give him trouble now. :( I didn't see it come up until about 7 months after the dog bit him. I thought he had healed up and he acted just fine within a week or two. :( He eats kibble, but I try at keast a few days a week to add powdered superfoods, garlic powder, redmond salt, and pasture raised eggs to my dogs' kibble. I'm concerned about him although he seems to do his normal routine still ...sleeps most or half of the day and on patrol at night.

Either is beneficial in many ways. Turmeric is a “warming” spice, so if your dog is always hot and seeking out cool floors to lie on, turmeric may not be for him. Vet, heck no, I'm a natural dog health specialist of 16 years.

Sweet, that's funny. I did do Marylin way back in the day when I was young, pretty and talked into it. Just could not get the sexy walk going though lol. Now as for the Cher thing, that's got me thinking about Kinky Gerlinkies back in the early 90's.. good times.

Hi Doctor,are dogs omnivores?
@DanScott1
@DanScott1 2 жыл бұрын
Humans are Omnivores and dogs are Carnivores. Our molars (back teeth) are for gringding by pushing together and then a little sideways to grind the food down into a bolus or ball before swallowing. Cows have a much more pronounced action with grinding sideways when chewing grass for example. With dogs, the molars are sharp tipped and designed to cut through meat, bone and skin then simply swallow it by the chunk, hence they are carnivores.

Yes and why I recommend fresh food in the diet to compliment such a diet as kibble is not complete pet food. Thanks for chiming in.

Kibble is not food no matter what you add to it

Good, you see the truth of my ruse. It's the fresh food you add that's the nutrition. Have you ever tried getting someone to change something completely, not happening, but adding something extra, no problem.
