I have the distinction of owning all flop cars. Kia Pride, Kia Classic, Baleno and Liana. Bought all these cars slightly used at good price, then kept them for 5-10 years. Alhamdolillah never regretted the decision and got very good performance from all these cars. This shows, that performance of the car does not matter in it's being a flop.

I had a Baleno GTi and drove much better than Corolla I had. It had excellent handling and was a Pocket Rocket. I enjoyed driving it in the northern region. The only problem was it's suspension wasn't durable. Got it for 6 lac in 2003 to replace a 1999 2.0D which cost 11 lac from the factory. I've lost a lot of respect for Pakistan assembled cars since then (GTi was japanese assembled).

I drove Liana RXI and LXI, both i found both these version were fun to drive. Both these cars were very spacious. Each version was very cheap to mantain . Once side view mirrors were stolen. I got genuine pair for 1600 Rs. Where as similar mirrors for Carola and Honda were of 4000 and 6000 each pair. The only failure for these cars was , in our minds we relate Carola and Honda as status symbles. I also drove Pride for three years , used to treval twice a week from Karachi to Hydrabad. Had no complaints and issues

Yes I own n driving Liana RXI 2006 driving since Nov last finding good family car with encouraging consumption. It's compatible with Corolla with best features. It however depends also on driving skill n maintenance for every car. I also had owned n driven Margalla power plus 1996 for over 7 years. The best car I found. Similarly prior to that I owned Nissan used for over 6 years. Crux of the matter to see availability of spares n maintenance.

Local assemble glory is a disaster in todays market with ausome looks and options with no quality substandard body interior exterior quality and worse performance. After sales pathetic and extremely expensive with no experience what so ever.

Build quality especially body was dalda Ka dabbaa. Full rusted in just few months.. have used many Chinese brands but this one CKD unit glory was a nightmare for me..

Correction: Classic was popular since it was cheaper. It stopped production because it Dewan didn't update it after some years. Sonata and galant were much worse sellers because they were introduced at a point in time when Pakistanis were interested only in smaller sedans.

The road clearance, road grip, suspension and their durability is no where seen in nowadays vehicles. These cars were built with purity and reliability. Nowadays cars are trash. I had Balleno 2002 n used for 3 years, after that changed with Civic auto on family's desires but still I remember Balleno due to economically, comfort etc. One point I also endorsed that our mechanic are also liking n dislikes which they always showed up.

In fact being Pakistani we ourselves are responsible for these car failures because we always promoted the hegemony of big threes with low feathers and high prices if we start boycotting them hopefully all the flop will turn into hit cars. The important factors behind the flop is unwelcoming of new technology from the mechanics as well as the the mindset of the Pakistani customers who thinking of resale value of anything prior to buying of anything irrespective of the quality of any product. The true example is Suzuki ciaz and Suzuki vitara which are the ever best vehicles but flop in Pakistan. For instance, when ciaz was launched in 17 lac nobody was willing to buy it except government institutions due to it's cheaper price but after so many years have been past these are discontinued but people are purchasing in resale aboe 40 lacs and saying it was the best car ....

Liana was a nice car. I had drove it. You are more than right that vehicle was not a failure but local mechanics make it a disaster. And the Lancer, such a machine, road grip, smooth and thrill, everything you could enjoy when you are on the steering of the Lancer. With other reasons number one reason was its extra ordinary expensive body parts.

Kia Classic and Liana by my personal experience are great vehicles. It's just mechanic mentality and incompetence that people carry. Also Nissan Sunny is very reliable and comfortable car but our mechanics are only comfortable with old traditional big 3 cars coz that's easy money for them since they can't research new tech since they have a language barrier and again people carry their opinion. Also these cars are good family car option for mid budget customers and that's why they are still rare and hard to get.

Normal Lancer or Galant Fortis (Evo X) generation wali kabhi aye hi nahin Pak... Purani generation tak hi aye thi yahan jo suna tha rumors main k Australia jani thi aur wahan port pe reject ho gaye thi, wahi maal Pakistan aa gya tha. Ekka dukka hi Evo X Maine Pak main dekhein hain.. best car ever. Too bad Mitsubishi discontinued it to focus on crossover type cars for the future.

Any car manufacturer can be successful anywhere, provided service/spares are available! Chevrolet is another failure in Pakistan, and so has been Fiat UNO 1.7D. We cannot say flop but a failure to a successful launch and sustainability. KIA and Daewoo Cars have a reputation of weak brakes not just in Pakistan but everywhere!

I didn't agree with Suzuki Baleno and especially Margalla. Margalla is a very successful variant due to its leg space, seating capacity, suspension and a powerful engine 1300 cc with good mileage 13Km in city and 15-17 KM on long if maintained and drive properly. its part availability and low maintenance cost made it successful till now. Its low budgeted family sedan car. u can get it in price Rs. 6 - 8 lac PKR
