Wonderful tips. As someone that walks with only 4-5 clubs at a local, short 9-hole course, my 54 degree is the only wedge I carry so being creative with that club around the greens is key. It’s done wonders for my short game when trying to get up-and-down on a normal 18-hole course with my full set.

Clive is is so pragmatic and is able to distill and elucidate his knowledge. I've given chipping a lot of attention during our interminable lock-downs and his explanations instantly make sense - excellent video - can't wait to try the 6 club drill.

Neil and Golf Monthly are doing great work with these videos they produce, Thank you. I agree with the last comment, ....what a great facility at Foxhills. English golf clubs, in general are poor when it comes to producing good short game facilities. How many clubs do you go to that say 'no chipping' to the putting green which is fine, (but chipping doesn't really damage the green, its pitching that creates the problems both in terms of divots and unprepared pitch marks), but then they don't provide another option away from the putting green but close to the first tee where you can hit 30 short game shots before you play. The target green doesn't have to be huge and perfectly manicured it just has to be an area where you can find a variety of lies and practice making good contact

Great advice. I would be interested in hearing about where player should be looking when hitting a ball. I think I normally look at the back of the ball but I wonder if that is what good players do. Thanks.

Great advice especially the last one. Now all i need is to find somewhere to practise.

Excellent video as always. The short game is a vital part of the game and if you want to lower your handicap these shots need to be practiced.

one the biggest mistakes i was making with short game that when i realized it 10x my consistency with pitching and chipping is to KEEP YOUR SHOULDERS STRAIGHT. everytime i chunked or thinned these more sensitive shots it was because i was letting my shoulders turn open. You get too distracted by feeling out how much power you need to put into the shot that you forget to square your body up to the ball.

Hi Neil. The course I play most frequently has greens surrounded on three sides by thick, lush, 4 to 5-inch high Kentucky-31 tall fescue. If you get, short-sided with the green sloping away from where your ball is nestled in a bed of tall fescue, you will have an exceedingly demanding shot. Any thoughts on playing this shot would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The bounce doesn’t work unless you have a descending strike (slightly) every coach forgets to mention this, watch the Nick Faldo lessons for the correct coaching.

Love the discussion but its like you have a audible golf lesson. I would enjoy actually watching the technique employed...there is a lot of discussion about technique but there is not much on actually watching the ball plight, how the ball interacts w the green (spin),, etc...there is talk of technique but "we" cant see it.

I found this a bit confusing. For bunker shots, he says you're not really opening the face. Then, he opens the face the whole time. Height of flight, he talks about wrists and arch but little about ball position in stance which has the biggest influence on flight.

With nothing to go over, why use a max loft club ? For almost all amateur players a rescue club using putter grip is far more consistent.

Bunker technique fine if sand is loose
@davidharris25174 жыл бұрын
Unless the sand is completely hard pan then use that technique, if it is hard pan lean the shaft forward to reduce bounce and play a more normal shot, trying to hit the sand just after the ball

The meaning with this video is great, but i think there is too much talk, and you make it to complicated. He talks a lot about the don't instead showing the shots some more, and just simplicify it a little more :-)

Just standing there to see there's no future hole. Baby are you ok standing right there, sit down I am and breath with obstacle for detensifying it. Some distance even it is close to your perfect shot, it will never pull in. Lovely majesty.

I'm quite happy with my short game. I found this video too jargony and confusing. And my two short-game errors don't make the list: topping the ball with my lob wedge and deceleration. Coaching is meant to simplify the game; this didn't.
@andygreen27654 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your errors are more basic, e.g. topping the ball. This is aimed at players who have a more consistent ability to make reasonable contact. As you improve this sort of stuff will become useful.

Biggest mistake KZbin golf channels make.....they assume all club golfers have access to perfect practice facilities just like them.
