Those are some fantastic classic selections! I’m loving your fresh copy of Queen, and the story behind the cover is cool!

Hey Mark!!! I’m not sure how I missed this?! I’m so glad the records made it. I really enjoyed this showcase & the stories. I love that NOTW cover, too. That first debut is raw Cheap Trick. Definitely odd subject matter LOL. Jack Douglas captured their sound perfectly on there. I am so glad that you enjoyed the Grip Weeds. They really are awesome. Love the KISS story. The subject matter … 😂 ELSA!!!! I love Elsa!! 😊

I'm just super appreciative of the time, effort, and resources you guys put into this contest and the prize. All great records that I will enjoy for the rest of my days! I'm also humbled by the personal support you've shown to me, Emma, and I will always treasure that, too.

It is great you won the contest and have some records to enjoy. I like the clips shown:: the bird, the music in the recording studio, and the dog walk. It looks like a bueatiful place to go for a walk.

Thanks, Catherine! Elsa is overjoyed whenever I take her somewhere new to walk. She hates walking this same old neighborhood!

Great win Mark! The queen cover makes me think of a robotic King Kong. Side A and side one is a cool tidbit for Cheap Trick. I remember a kid from my youth who wore that same cheap trick shirt in my wood shop class. I am a fan of power pop and Midnight Callers and The Grip Weeds sound outstanding to me. Mark your wardrobe is inspiring.. green is often associated with growth, renewal, and prosperity, while gold symbolizes luxury, success, and wealth.

I like the sound of that color prophecy! I thought I was only putting on a jacket to hold my microphone!

Hi Mark, The prize couldn't have gone to a nicer person. I didn't know the story of the News of the World cover. I agree on the track Sheer Heart Attack. Love it. The only record from this lot that I do not own is The Grip Weeds. Nice video of Elsa! She looks like a good girl

Thanks, Brian! There was a lot of new stuff for me here, and some older records that were fun to revisit. Elsa is the best! I wish I could take her to work with me. Actually, I have taken her to work with me a few times. They told me to knock it off.

So nice you won those. I got that Cheap Trick CD box a while back, and it sort of made me content, but that first one would be great on vinyl. Actually, I do have one on vinyl, a live record released for RSD. in 21 or 22? It’s really cool.

Congrats on that score. Yes, that debut Kiss album is a killer and holds its own. Saw Kiss in 1976 w/Uriah Heep in New Haven. Part of their allure to me was that crazy stage show which was way over top of anything before. I worked at a truck stop around that time and they had the Kiss pinball machine in the truckers lounge which I frequently played on break. That also sealed the deal as far as getting on the bandwagon. As far as Cheap Trick goes, it’s interesting that you mention the kid with the Cheap Trick shirt because there was a girl named Lori at my high school that wore a jacket with their logo on the back and this way before Budokan. For some reason, she was way ahead of the curve on that. And yes, their debut LP is great but too edgy at the time for commercial success. Budokan was a stroke of genius as it rode the wave of popularity of live albums after Frampton Comes Alive, Kiss Alive etc. The crowd excitement in Japan is captured and the band played great. Everything fell into place. That being said, those earlier albums are great. In Color is probably my favorite.

Yep. Like most kids my age, Live at Budokan was the first Cheap Trick LP I bought, too. I have instant flashbacks to that time period anytime I hear Surrender! In Color is fantastic!

I put on the jacket to hold my microphone. I am really struggling with it! When I wear a t-shirt, the microphone is literally sticking in my throat. I thought this jacket would solve the problem. But then I ended up rubbing the album covers on the mic, which makes a horrible noise! I'll get it figured out, eventually.
