5 configurations for Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant in MSFS 2020.

This video will teach you how to setup the following Honeycomb Bravo Throttle configurations for Microsoft Flight Simulator:
1. Twin Engine GA Aircraft (defualt).
2. Complex Single Engine
3. Basic Single Engine
4. 4 Engine Jet
5. 2 Engine Jet
As of Flight Sim version 5 you do not need to check “reverse axis” on the levers. By default, the axis works as is now. Also when binding switches (including lever detents) now you need to flip the switch on for the input to be sensed, but then turn the switch off before validating it, or the validation will freeze. Additionally, when testing a switch the fields don’t turn white and dark anymore, but they will work.
“Flaps Axis (-100 to 100)” is called “Flaps Axis” now.

You might already know this, but for anyone reading the comments Asobo added action types for button presses in the options. So if you want the thrust reversers to properly stow when you’re done using them, setup both the Throttle Decrease and the Throttle Cut command with the same reverser. Keep Throttle Decrease as the default “on press” action, but change Throttle Cut to “on release”. Now when you stow the reversers on the Bravo, they’ll actually stow properly in the aircraft and you don’t have to use the detent button on the Bravo.

Great video! After plug & play with the Alpha Yoke I was surprised to see the difference with the Bravo. But after your videos and realizing the different configuration options it became obvious why it needs some setting up. Your video made me like the configuration process!

Just got mine and this helped. Thanks. I would also add that when coming out of reverse with the jets, bring your reversers out, then a quick advance of the throttles with bring it out of reverse also. Little better than using engine cutoff.

I recently purchased MSFS 2020 and the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo. This is my first foray into the PC flight sim world. Your instructions on the five configurations was very good. I found for the 4-engine jet throttle does not need to be selected to work correctly. I did have to select reverse for the speed brake. When assigning the throttle decrease I had to move it out of the detent to be able to validate. I also had issue with getting the flaps to properly operate. Now I just have to try flying a 4-engine jet. For the Cessna sims I tried, it was okay. The G1000 was pretty close to true to life that I am used to. Thank you for the time creating this.

Good lord, I got my Bravo a few days ago after 6 months of waiting and I thought I had figured it all out, I also installed spad.next to start setting up more complex mapping etc. Then I watched this video and I realized there's a frigging detent if you push the levers all the way down! Firstly, I want to say this is an amazing video thank you! I think It is amazing that they are able and willing to offer such quality and application at this price, while Saitek/Logitech was offering "toys" with substandard potentiometers and materials. In order to have an equivalent logitech/saitek setup you would need: 2 throttle quadrants, 1 flight switch panel, and1 multi-panel for a grand total of $368. Granted some of their panels have digital readout it is difficult to factor in how that affects the price. Nevertheless, I still think Honeycomb Aeronautical deserves a round of applause.

Really good guide thanks for doing this. One thing to be aware of and maybe worth adding a note in the description.... The Flaps axis can behave strangely with the auto assist for takeoff & landing being enabled it will automatically reset the flaps position and override the controller input. Its easy enough to disable from the Assist Options but looks like the controller or binding is bugged/broken when you first see it unless you're expecting it.

On a side note, I did not keep the throttle, propeller and mixture axis 1 on the single engine GA profiles, but actually swiched the axis to the general ones (without number) this way I got a "default" profile that would almost always work ;)

Hi @Rmag, Great video! Also used it as a starting point to configure my Bravo. But I have another recommendation. Instead of creating single engine profiles by assigning throttle axis 1, propeller axis 1 and mixture axis 1, I recommend to assign the general throttle axis, propeller axis and mixture axis in this profile. By doing so this profile will work for a single engine but it will also work for a 2, 3 or whatever engine aircraft. You can anyway not create a specific profile for a 3 or more engine prop aircraft since you only have pairs of levers. So beside the 2 and 4 jet engine profiles I have - 1/X Engine TPM (e.g. Bonanza) - 1/X Engine TM (e.g. C172) - 1/X Engine T (e.g. Icon) - 2 Engine TPM (e.g. Baron) - 2 Engine T (e.g. DA62) Did I miss some? The first profile works as default for all props without having to change the levers. Happy virtual flying!

Amazing tutorial!! Thank you very much for this! However, I thought I would give you a tip I discovered while watching this. You don't need to use the throttle CUT in order to get the reversers back in. Open reversers when you need them, push the switches back to normal operation, then simply move the respective throttle forward in the slightest the the buckets will close in the sim.

I was aware of that but you have to 1. Flip your reverser levers off 2: push throttles toward then back. Versus with the cutoffs you go reverse then pull the throttles all the way back to stop. As a pilot pulling back on throttles is more natural then the flip/jiggle required above. After you pull back through the detent then you can reset your reverser levers at your leisure.

First of all thank you for taking the time to pull together and share. I just acquired the Bravo..and the information you provided helped remove the potential frustration and enabled me to get up and running quickly. One thing I did differently after thinking about your setup; specifically going from the complex single engine to the basic single engine i.e. I kept the mixture lever in the third from the left position, and simply took out the blue prop lever from the second position...the thinking was this way if I switch from a basic to a complex single aircraft, I simply need to add the blue lever in its place. I appreciate that I may by splitting hairs here. My question is whether I am missing something...or is it simply a matter of preference. Thanks again..

If you assign throttle cut to the same button as throttle decrease but change action type to" on release " instead of "on press " the thrust reverse work more realistically but you need to check that the action was saved as on release because it usually saves as on press the first time you do it

Thank you SO much for your video - I figured this out when my bravo throttle arrived, but it took me much more time than it did to you. After your video, I was able to configure a few things better! However, when I use the Throttle Quad. on FS2020,a couple odd behaviors occur: when I set an Altitude like 4000 ft and engage the AP, the plane climbs to 4000 but levels off at 3960 or 3950, never at 4000 ft. No matter what Altitude is set, it is always 40-50 below. Secondly, glideslopes are not captured for all aircraft. On Approach, RNAV or ILS, while flying at the correct Altitude (less those 40-50 ft) with APR button ON, it will reach the point where it should capture the glideslope but keeps going straight, never engaging the glideslope. I can see the GS indicator pass through the altitude where it should engage and keeps going down. If I disconnect the Bravo Quad and use the buttons and lever from the Extreme 3D Pro Microsoft Joystick, everything works fine. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times in these last two days, and the behavior was the same every time. has anyone experienced this, or has any idea how to fix it?

I tested the AP with altitude hold and an approach using the TBM. I did not have any of these problems. Some thoughts... If you have an altitude set you don't have a high enough power setting to climb, you may not get to the exact altitude you want. Are your magenta V-Bars above your yellow V-Bars in your ADI when this is happening? Regarding not capturing the glideslope or glidepath, are you forgetting to activate the approach? Just having the approach loaded is not enough. It has to be activated to capture it.

@@RMAG Thank you so much for your response. Approach always ON, magenta and yellow lines leveled, altitude stable. None of that were the problem. About an hour ago, I figured out the real cause: it was the way the Bravo throttle works on FS2020 versus X Plane11. I was using the selector button to define a certain altitude, then moved it to VS to set up the climbing speed, and left it there. The AP assumes VS is selected and gives it a priority, even though the plane is flying at the specified altitude. Therefore, when trying to capture the glide slope, the VS won't allow it because it is at zero, active from the Selector button. Once I switched it back to ALT before reaching the glideslope waypoint AND activating the ALT button with the APR button already on, all problems faded away. Even the 20-40 ft discrepancy. In X Plane11, when I set the altitude using the selector button and then the VS climbing speed, the AP automatically turns the ALT button on once it reached the desired altitude and deactivates the VS function. FS2020 doesn't do this (at least in my case). Either way, now I was able to fly 2 short routes on different planes and GS was captured. First time in almost 2 months!
