@@sousa928Nah I kinda get where ihabboukchouch is coming from... in a sense. In most of these "crazy verdict reaction" videos, the defendents often give some bullshit excuse to try and deflect blame like "that wasn't me" or "I would never do this. You have to believe me". Shit like that. In this one specific instance, the guy not only didn't try to deflect, but actually confessed to the crime, showing that he did have some kind of conscious deep down. Doesn't change what he did though. Just that normally in these video's, there is admittedly a bit of satisfaction watching narcissists and psychopaths get their just desserts for their actions. It's not as satisfying when the defendent is actually remorsefull.

@Jmacdonald2386
@Jmacdonald2386 7 ай бұрын
Yeah they are not selling their morals because without defense attorneys there would be only prosecutors who are well known to use extremely questionable legal tactics all the time. It’s how the constitution works, you either have a system where everybody gets a fair trial with legal representation, including both parties. Or nobody gets a fair trial or the right to representation.
@sapnagupta7440
@sapnagupta7440 6 ай бұрын
Actually it's important having lawyers for the sides because they represent themselves on behalf of their side, if there's no lawyer to represent any of the side, the case keeps dragging on. Lawyers have brain too, they know who's wrong, it's just solely out of their duty.
@leactive609
@leactive609 6 ай бұрын
Either way every American citizen has a right to a defense in court. One could argue it's more moral for these lawyers and attorneys to defend someone who they know is in the wrong. But that person still has a right to a defense.
@harpy2602
@harpy2602 6 ай бұрын
"sell their morals"? are you serious? You know that constitution y'all harp on about? Going on about how you have certain rights and the government can't infringe on them? Well, those apply to defendants too. There is a constitutional right to a fair trial. You have a right to competent representation. In many cases, it's not about getting the defendant "off". It's about making sure their rights weren't infringed, that they receive the defence their entitled to, and that JUSTICE is being served. Because prosecuting criminals should always be about justice, not about "winning" at any cost. Defence lawyers are not immoral. It is not sickening. It is the exact opposite. Because no matter how heinous the crime, they have rights. Do not kid yourself on how fucked up your (already fucked up) country would be if there were no "sickening, moral-selling" defence lawyers to balance the process. You don't get to cherry pick which rights apply and to who. And if you try, you're just putting your ignorant privilege on display.

My sister has slept for 19hrs as AN ADULT. My oldes brother slept for a day straight as a teen after partying for a night and a half straight. But when we were babies my other brother had a fever, we usually have those as babies and sleep a bit longer than usual. My parents felt it was getting up there on day 1 and he was a bit warmer than our oldest brother was. So they rushed him to the hospital with the aide of a police officer. Turned out he had a high fever and health issues that if not checked that day could've ended his life. Those parents clearly didn't want a baby. And probably thought this was their only option. Every time I see a cold-blooded murderer cry, I know they are crying for themselves, because they got caught, and not out of sorrow for the heinous crimes they committed. If it were up to me, prison terms would be a lot less comfortable...just the basics in food, drink, and shelter (no a/c in summer, minimal heat in winter). No TV, no internet. That tends to occur in cases without attachments of politics or the guilty being a high up figure in the Federal Government, they can literally get away with having people executed and won't even be investigated like one of the Clinton's recent hit jobs on a Hillary aide that worked for her for over thirty years and was also really close with Jeffery Epstein, likely the middle man for Epstein and the Clinton's because shortly after Epstein got killed this man somehow committed suicide despite having a family of five which oddly didn't want video of him leaving to go "kill himself" to be able to be viewed by anyone other than the Sherif that "discovered" the body and her. He had a very interested suicide being he went to the middle of nowhere, I think land they owned, and decided the best way to go would be to climb a big tree, hang himself in the middle of one of its thick branches then pulled off the most amazing achievement for a 56 year old, he managed to shot himself in the chest with a shotgun and throw it 15 feet away from himself. But of course the other instances of injustice is typically when someone in a powerful position in government or a connection to powerful people in government commit crimes themselves or have someone they don't like which will be harrased and possibly framed by FBI or other law officials. Then of course anyone who dares to try to expose these powerful government people, anyone with good reach of spreading that information IF it is too damaging without enough evidence that will be good enough for anyone or the nature of that evidence convincingly accuses them of something sinister. Nobody's can be executed very easily because executions can be taken over by the Federal Government, the FBI, and they are the gate keepers for most of the important decisions made in our country, they hold most of the power which if you know anything about the creation of our constitution our government was designed to not have such centralized power as the intelligence agencies and DOJ, all within one body of government that can take over any case of high crimes in any state plus be the only ones who can choose to investigate or not, prosecute or not, on the Federal level. Thus being they cannot be held accountable by anyone other than their own friends(other people in the intelligence agencies and DOJ) then they can of course do anything illegal, like spy on every politician and judge in the entire government and use that information as blackmail when they need a particular outcome of something. The worst that can happen to them for getting caught red handed by the public is they'll have to retire or quit working for the intelligence agencies in which it's no big deal because all of their friends in the intelligence community will be just fine with making sure they can commit plenty of crimes to enrich themselves and live happily ever after. The sweet smell of justice! Oh yeah, and the intelligence agencies and DOJ within the State Department are unconstitutional therefore illegal, technically. They were created out of corruption, out of blackmail, no portion of the government was supposed to hold such power that they could not be held accountable by any other branch of government. Congress is supposed to be able to hold them accountable but that is a lie, all congress can do is recommend to the DOJ and/or FBI to investigate and prosecute one of them inwhich they, the DOJ and FBI can completely ignore said request, and do.

One thing I’d like to point out about the case of the child who passed away due to neglect - the father and mother have two very different reactions, though both being convicted of the same crime. The father does not begin to have his reaction upon hearing what he has done, upon hearing his child’s name being called as dead, but instead begins to show a reaction when hearing how it will affect him, telling him that he will spend life in prison without parol. That is what he is in shock for, which sounds like a fair narcissistic tendency. However, the mother only starts to have a reaction when she hears the baby’s name be told. The judge says that she is being charged for the murder and names her daughter. That is when she begins to cry. Upon hearing the consequences, she calms down, but every time Mary is mentioned, she breaks down. It makes me wonder if the father was in some sort of power play, and would not let the mother take care of her child. They had opposite reactions, which is just very strange to me.

@@clarab6092 your judging her for the mans calus 911 call. the child dying is horrific but dont be blind you can see by there obviously different reactions. she cried as soon as the death of her child was mentioned not at the charges he just acted shocked at the charges two different mind sets. If you havnt been the victim of a ultra abusive controlling relationship with a narcisist or a psychopath you wouldnt understand how easy it is for them to get you to do what they want that includes forcing a mom to neglect their childs needs. It isnt just a physical threat that does this its breaking down a person to their core and building them back up with new beliefs or beating them so badly with lies and threats that they begin to believe them and worse believe in the perp once the perp has that youll do what they say when they say and you wont dare ask and it takes decades sometimes for a victim to gain the strength to leave and some may never figure it out this is how a cult is built but a pychopath can use this very same thing to make a very obediant spouse. In actual life a pychopath is very charming and most people would say they are a great person but this is because they are great manipulators and people readers they figure out what you need and fullfill it. Ted bundy the most infamous serial killer ever was said by people that met him he seemed like a great man. I say this cause some may argue someone around her should have noticed i argue no they are good at looking good in front of others its behind close doors where it happens I know this because my sister had to be rescued from an abusive situation and she did things she never would have done other wise when she was with the dude. It is insane what an abuser can make you do when you dont have the strength to fight.

it wasn't shock or surprise. you know, surprise is a very short reaction when your eyes widen and your mouth drops open and then the reaction diminishes. shock is when you're so stunned that you don't feel and don't show any reaction at all because you're body is flushed with adrenaline very shortly. his eyes don't react at all, they're neutral. the corners of his mouth even go up a little as if he was amused. he's merely mimicking human emotion. he might be a psychopath, not having any feelings besides shallow ones.

It hits different now that I'm a mom to see cases like this. How tf do you create an entire human being and go through a painful and traumatizing birth only to neglect them? After my son was born all of what used to be high ambitions for me melted away and my focus is now on making sure he's happy and fed and clothed. Idk how any parent can live with themselves when they are the cause of their childrens' suffering. There's this idea I keep hearing that new parents should be tested for adequacy before being allowed to raise children. It's becoming less and less ridiculous the more I hear these stories of neglect and abuse.

@anonymouslyforgotten3840
@anonymouslyforgotten3840 11 ай бұрын
@@driftr5174 I mean yeah it is honestly. The fundamental issue of the prison system is the lack of rehabilitation. The legal system focuses on punishment rather than positive and negative reinforcement. Because of that, negligible change often occurs in the released person’s behavior. Couple that with sending them into a society that doesn’t care enough to support them, and they’re basically leaving them with no other choice but to repeat the same behavior that imprisoned them in the first place. Unfortunately, prison is designed with more “eye for eye” ideology, than a “I’ll help fix you” agenda. Now the controversial question is should violent and lethal crimes be forgiven? Well, purely from a logical standpoint: yes to an extent. However, how does such a system affect the victims? Is it fair for someone to maliciously take, abuse, and permanently ruin someone’s life, yet still get to enjoy life’s benefits? Maybe, if you maintain a stance of objectivity, but certainly not for the victim and their family. The victim and family have a high probability of desiring revenge, but lack the legal methodology to do it. After all, in a civilized society, founded by laws and regulations, torture and murder, something most likely desired by the victim’s family, are simply out of the question. If they can't do things like that legally, where are they supposed to put all that pent up rage and hatred? How are they supposed to quell that desire for rage and anger without upsetting the balance of a semi-peaceful and civilized society? Well, the short answer is the legal system. While it may not be morally just, imprisoning a person for life offers a sense of satisfaction and relief to the victim and their family. It fulfills their need for revenge without the necessity for further bodily harm. Now whenever the victim’s family think of those that were taken from them, they can also be reminded of the fact that the person who took their loved one is suffering too. Now, they don’t have to worry about the fact that the person who harmed them is walking around consequence free. They can begin to regain a sense of normalcy if you will. Just like a higher power government would want, the victim may set aside their desire for violent retaliation, and realign themselves to the ideals of the average working citizen. (In a perfect world anyway) Is this justice… yes in sense. Is it morally right… idk. There’s an ideal that everyone deserves a second chance, and honestly I am inclined to believe it’s true. However, the question is how catastrophic of a first chance can you get before the second chance is revoked? Can every first chance truly be overlooked? Even the most dastardly criminals are indeed human as everyone else. Just like everyone else in society, they are emotionally driven, and deeply affected by the circumstances of life. Sometimes, just like everyone else, things build up inside of them, and pop out in the form of an irreversible mistake. Yes, just like everyone else, they are victims of very bad and stupid decisions or ways of thinking. It’s just that their mistakes result in the loss of lives. Saying if that should definitely be forgiven is convoluted. Though even murder can be forgiven, not all mistakes deserve second chances, especially at varying depravities. I’ll admit, I am looking at a too little snippet of these peoples’ lives to accurately judge them, but the fact of the matter is the results. While some of these emotions may have truly been genuine, the result and their actions speak louder (at least as portrayed by the video). I can’t fully judge if these people deserved their sentence or not (maybe some were slightly questionable) but they definitely committed a wrongdoing, and the family/victims definitely deserves closure. So yes, the life sentence, and prison system as whole, isn’t designed for rehabilitation as it should be. And yes, the system is designed for the victims to relinquish their anger and hatred. Is this right… I don’t know. Is this wrong… I don’t know. Could it be better… yes. Does it need to be better… yes. Will that be better for the victims… probably not. What about society… maybe. Regardless, as it stands, yes… from a present day societal standpoint, the purpose of the life sentence is exactly as you say.
