800+ hack: Utilization is a huge factor. No matter what your limit, keep it under 20% utilization at all times. Pay it in full by the due date. If you have more than one cc, make sure most of them are at zero balance and rotate using each, ensuring that only one or two have balances each month. Don't rack up those inquiries. You don't need more than two or three credit cards in order to have flexibility and use the above hacks to get and keep your 800+ credit score. By the way the above won't work if you don't have a grip on your spending so be sure to have a budget in place prior. Live simple.

@morpheus67495 жыл бұрын
What I meant was who is providing it to you. Very likely you're not paying TransUnion to get your score. It's more likely that you're getting it from something like CreditKarma or a free service from a credit card like Discover. That being the case, you're not getting the version of FICO that lenders use but rather the more generous version that virtually no lender or creditor uses. You do realize that are many different versions of FICO, not just one. There are also other credit scores that are not FICO at all, just in the same general range as a FICO score, which can easily be mistaken for a FICO score, and again, which aren't used by any lenders. Those scores get their data from the same three credit bureaus (i.e. TransUnion, etc.) but use very different formulas to come up with a score. A 19-year old is not likely to have a FICO score of 738. Not the real, lender version anyway.

Great info. I’ve learned from Dave Ramsey to also Not Pay Utilities on Credit Cards because the CC Companies see you as irresponsible of not knowing how to handle your finances. So he recommends you pay those by cash (debit cards, money orders, or cash). Basically you depend on a CC to pay your month to month bills which makes you look bad. That’s including cable and cell phone bills.

Seeing the credit score from a specific bureau isn't quite as important as seeing the credit report from each. Your score at each of the three bureaus will be about the same, especially if the stuff on each report matches up. Experian is notorious for making it impossible to see your score. Most credit cards that offer a free look at your FICO use TransUnion. I would focus on finding your score from one of the others and getting your credit reports from each.

Here's how to pay off your mortgage 10 years early and save a fortune in interest ! Split your monthly mortgage payments into weekly or bi-weekly payments. If you pay your mortgage only once per month it takes many more years to pay it off because you're gouged alot in interest. Paying weekly or bi-weekly reduces the principal amount MUCH FASTER...so the end result is paying off your mortgage way ahead of schedule and saving big bucks in accrued interest!

If you own more than $5000.00 like I did, you need to sacrifice things that you enjoy doing for you to increase your credit score 1. Pay your bills on time, twice a month will help you a lot. 2. Stop abusing your credit card 3. Manage your paycheck properly. 4. You can depend on your credit card for important thing that you really need, but not for thing that you don't need. 5. Get a job that pat you more than 45,000.00 My credit score is 804, 770, and 769. It took me 18 months to pay all my credit cards, now I can get a loan over $25,000

Yeah...I was ignorant to pay attention to people who told me to cut up my credit cards and only use budgeted amounts of cash. I did that and my accounts either closed for non use or I cancelled cards. That and one collection agency screw up has me with horrible scores. Starting over at old age sucks. Wish I would have spoken to someone smart who knew the tips to make credit work for me.
@josephhogue6 жыл бұрын
This! This is what most debt free gurus don't understand. If you close your accounts or just don't use them, they drop off your credit report. That lowers the 'average age of credit' on your report and destroys your FICO score. Good luck getting a loan or anything after that.
@morpheus67495 жыл бұрын
Debt collectors will not only NOT remove the derogatory entry from your credit file - *even if you pay off the debt* - each time you contact them about it they reset the date of the entry, which means it's like a brand new stain on your credit that'll stick around for *7 years from that date.* And as far as your credit score is concerned, the difference between a paid off stain and an unpaid stain is tiny. Both kinds will impact your score about the same amount. But the biggest mistake you can make is to contact a debt collector to either discuss payment or beg them to remove the entry from your credit. All you do is screw yourself in the process.

I wish I could close my Amex Gold card which charges me a fee every year , a fee with perks and services I really do not use. If you'r wondering why did I get it, well I was very young and knew very little about credit cards then. They accepted my request right away and off I went. Now , since I do pay a fee on that card and I've had it for such a long time, it is one of my most used cards and oldest credit history cards. So closing it at this point will most likely hurt me a great deal, but I sure wish I could close it to not have any yearly fees . My credit is excellent as it is, so I don't know if closing it will even matter much to my credit score just my history. Your thoughts/ what woould you do?
@josephhogue5 жыл бұрын
Great question and one I struggled with on an American Airlines citi card. In your case, I'd say close it but try to do it at least six months before you'll need to use your credit. Your score should have pretty much rebounded by then. Another option is to call and tell them you're going to cancel unless they waive the fee (might not work every year but should get you at least one year). No reason to pay annual fees to a credit card.
@ewlinitis5 жыл бұрын

I have been in my same residence 23 years,I when I requested my credit report I saw an address that I’ve never lived in. After I dispute this will my credit rise?
@josephhogue5 жыл бұрын
Probably not if it was just a wrong address. Doesn't hurt/help your credit unless there are judgments on the address against you.

Great video as always! I completely agree the current credit system is flawed, but at what cost is this going to be to fix it. For one, like others have posted what government system has ever been smooth and without flaw. This sounds more like less privacy of individual finance. Bank account info and payment history being directly shared to the government. They already know what is reported on end of year taxes. This would allow knowledge of how that money is spent as well. For most people that may not matter but it’s still something to think about. At the end of the day, it’s what it’s. Freedom is far from being free in today’s time. This might make it easier for younger people to get credit they deserve. At the same time giving more credit then someone is accustom to can create problems that could be avoided as well. Because I was in the same situation where my score denied me from great position but I have no worries when I met Hackergold02 on I-g..

I have had a Mortgage Deed in Lieu on my credit report since 2016. 1) How long will it remain on the report? 2) Can it be removed before a set time? Thank you. Ms. P!
@josephhogue6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ms P. According to FICO, it can take as much as five years to rebuild your credit score after a deed in lieu. The Mark can take as long as seven years to drop off your credit report. You can try to dispute it after a few years to get it removed but it doesn't usually get taken off.

Credit Score Tip No.2 is "highly situational" to put it nicely, but honestly its bad advice for a lot of people. Asking for a credit increase typically results in a hard inquiry that will result in a lower credit score for 1-2 years. Which is not ideal for building credit fast, and that's not including the point that you could be denied the credit increase which would make the hard inquiry pointless, and at the same needlessly detrimental to your credit score. Be wary of credit advice from any and all sources, that includes this channel. While I will admit that the people/person who wrote these tips are knowledgable about credit scores, they are also knowledgeable about the downsides of these tips and deliberatly chose to not communicate these risks with their audience. This video also employs the use of several popular tatics that scammers/salesmen use so I'm personally weary of any of the "finanacial" adivce given on this channel. *edit for spelling & grammar 7/11

I didn't gloss over the downside to inquiries on a credit score, go back and listen. I've seen credit increases result in a soft inquiry more than the hard variety, it's the same thing the credit card companies do when they pre-approve your credit and doesn't hurt your score. Even if they do a hard inquiry, the change to your credit utilization ratio can offset the negative effect of the inquiry. While it's true that inquiries stay on your credit report for two years, they only negatively impact your credit score for the first year (TransUnion source). The higher credit limit lasts for as long as the account is open. Might not boost your score fast but it will have a increasing effect over time.
