I had to write about Issei a few times years ago. Once when I was going through a particularly morbid phase in high school and choose to base my essay on this sicko, and again in college where his case happened to come up as a point of discussion Issei is a remorseless monster. He's sorry - not for killing Renee. He's sorry his false fame didn't last and now he's miserable. He became some kind of pseudo celebrity in Japan after various talk shows wanted to speak with the freak who got away with being a cannibal, and he proudly goes into explicit detail of what he did to that poor girl. He went on to publish his own "manga" depicting the murder and draws himself pleasuring himself over Renee's severed head - given his artistic talent is similar to that of a small child, it makes it all the more disturbing. Seriously, do not google it. I did out of morbid curiosity and I can't unsee it. Then the Japanese porn industry decided having him perform might give them a new edge, so he appeared in a few pornos - softcore, cos nobody actually wanted him fucking them (a sentiment I can completely understand) Then Issei abruptly realised the Japanese public didn't love him like he assumed - they were staring in horror at the monster, and given that what he'd done to Renee was now global knowledge, no more interviews. Nobody wanted to watch an old Japanese man who happened to be a killer get off around pretty girls, and funnily enough, nobody wanted to hire a killer who was openly remorseless about having killed his friend in cold blood, raped her corpse then ate it. He'll die alone and unloved. He's too scared to kill himself and he wants to try and find a "suitable" western girl to kill and eat him, with the idea that will redeem him.

If you aren't being accused of a crime and it's something like your landlord is suing you, you're on your own in regards to getting an attorney. Legal aid can help but they only take certain cases since they're volunteering their time and they have a large demand for their services.
