The dm's of all 3 campaigns I've played recently all had a house rule for material components for spells, two of them know each other and came up with this rule together, the other doesn't know the other two and came up with the same. In session 0 they said 'I will dm-wave that you refill your component pouch at every settlement and city, also waving that you have enough until you get to the next settlement or city, where you are suddenly out of some or all components, I won't even have you remove gold. Spell Component Pouches are just so heavily common, they're practically free.'

I really like that a lot. I might use that if you don’t mind!! That seems like a great balance tbh

I remembered all of these! The first rule also messes up one of the Rogue abilities RAW. I don’t remember which but I think it was from an Assassin Ability. It said something like “if a monster hasn’t taken a turn yet” so it doesn’t get better if you surprise monsters which it seems like it was intended for.

Oh man didn’t think of that! It’s funny how sometimes the rules contradict the gameplay 🤣

As a rogue I do fall foul of hiding in the same place with a short bow 😆 it does make sense though, that there are rules to counteract that though.

To be fair, as you know the D&D rules are so contradictory 🤣

Didn't know about the surprise round, but I knew about the others! Problem is I forget about damage and concentration all the time, while my players forget to use their inspiration most of the time XD. I personally really dislike material spell components though as I feel they're boring and slow the pace down, so I usually ignore them except from plot-relevant spells like resurrection. It does also help there's a major psionic element to the campaign

100% agree!! Also honestly same! Sometimes concentration can be a buzz kill lol like if you’re like me and love trying to be “super powerful”
