That's the one trick that would not work. The cone is too heavy for this position. If you don't have an extra cone stand in which the thread is pulled off from above, just wind up an extra bobbin to use as top thread.

@@ClaudiaArnold I do have an extra cone stand but it's fragile plastic and has broken a few times (after being dropped, not from normal use). I was hoping this would be a solution - may try it anyway, but yes, a bobbin or extra spool would work.

Cone thread is meant to feed off the TOP of the cone - not the side. After sewing for a while this way you will have a twisted mess!

А можно не шить всё в прямом эфире, а, показав, где сшивается, сделать монтаж? Не увидев в начале, что получится, сидеть и ждать, пока все стежки проложат, скучно. А потом ещё и такой результат, который тебе не нужен. Ну или хотя бы в коммент к файлу крепите минуты, с которых начинается изделие, и что именно делаете. Кого интересует ролик, будет благодарен за заботу о зрителе.
