Hey there, came across your video as I'm planning to hike Paria this spring. A couple scenes in your video that I'm interested in are at 8:37 and 9:50 - assuming your clips are in order, it appears these are both before you get to big springs, is that correct? @@BackpackingTV Yea darn tough is where it's at, I have to wear the silk liners as the first layer because my feet are like butter. Watching this vid just before bed so volume is off: Are you just wearing trail runners or are those actually water shoes? Can't tell. Edit: nvm I see the initial question from Brian and now see they're trail runners :)

Get some. Or you could go out to the bar 10 ranch ride out on ATV or Horse to Lava Falls Go up Mount Trumbull, wander the lave flows up around there then go to Toroweap. Having been out with the infantry 45 days I kinda like day tripping vs slogging. BUT PARIA IS THE SHIT! Carry 40 pounds of water each do it in the heat. Take a filter pump with you.

Incredible edit! Great balance of narration, music, video, and variety of shots. This hike has been on my bucket list for years now and just waiting for logistics to work out to do it myself. I love the no-drain shells and cheese method. I learned to just barely cover all the shells with water and it boils down perfectly in about ten minutes (whatever the package says to cook them for) and leaves nearly no excess water in the bottom. I stir regularly toward the end of the cooking so the shells don't get crunchy. That mango sausage sounded like a great addition. A little hot sauce is good too. I found tuna to be pretty heavy for the few calories it offers, but I do love me some tuna-mac. I think sausage would be a nicer treat though. And while I'm writing about food, sweet&spicy beef jerky and craisins is a perfect combo!! It's sweet, spicy, sugary, and protein rich. I need to find the perfect cracker to add to that combo to have a one bag snack-lunch. Maybe Goldfish? Maybe something healthier like a Triscuit though. I want something calorie-dense and pocket friendly. Maybe even a relatively bland breakfast cereal. 🤔 Great video!
