No Thanksgiving in Canada. We had our celebration last month. It’s not as forced nor is there the compulsion to congregate. This Thursday is just another shopping day. We have more and more Black Friday events. I’m looking forward to this series. I really enjoyed Tom’s History of Makeup. The retrospective on their philosophy and approach is fascinating. I have the most problematic relationship with blush. I never wanted to appear embarrassed or flustered or naive. These days, in my personal olden times, I can’t ignore it. I need the colour. I am loving your conscious consumerism approach, especially right now! On the Aldi subreddit, people were saying that Aldi just switched from carrying Coke products to Pepsi products, so they're clearing out all the Coke inventory. Nobody seemed to know why. People theorized that the Coke contract was too expensive. I would love to think that Aldi was standing with Gaza, since Coke is so strongly associated with Israel. But it's hard to imagine a multinational company like Aldi talking a stand.

I pried the stopper on my glitter liner off so that I can PACK glitter on my eyelids. Pretty sure it’ll affect its shelf life but it means I get to use the amount I want, which means it gets used sooner.

I used the light shades in my KVD palette. But I frankened them all together and used it as setting powder, so they went really quickly.

No thanksgiving in Germany. But the online stores here are very much in promo mode. In one of your previous videos, I commented that I am looking at purchasing a backup of a moisturiser I love that's on sale. I've got it in a cart, and for some reason, I keep thinking "I have one backup that is about to be opened, because my current one is almost done.. Do I need a backup of my backup... Is that actually insane... Or is it a good idea to get one as my current one is almost done?" And I'm going back and forth about a moisturiser that is 15€ (normally 18/19€). So not a big purchase. But I would buy 2 of them. And maybe a serum. So it's never just a 15€ purchase. It's more like a 45€ purchase.

I saw a meme earlier today, well actually it was a ss of a tweet, which are also like memes now, but it said: "im going to ruin thanksgiving today by saying "ok boomer" after the prayers are said." & that gave me such a chuckle! My family does a big thanksgiving to-do every year & I stopped going after I saw my family for the last time (aside from one of my four sisters) on xmas 2018. I always loathed thanksgiving, both from the viewpoint of someone who is the offspring of an indigenous native American & someone who doesn't enjoy being around most of my family. My dad is an abusive narcissist, & my mother is a codependent enabler. I love them... From afar. 😂

🌷 Thank you for this video (and the series!)! Since the very first video of yours that I saw, I knew we were kindred spirits. How refreshing to see and hear someone on beautyTube say what was really on their minds, and not making their sole purpose on the platform making a sale. I'm pretty new to makeup, it has helped me see my true outer beauty, since I only saw my inner beauty before and always felt uncomfortable receiving any attention. Like I usually do, when I really like something, I become obsessed, and I willingly jumped into the sparkly black hole, buying loads of products, "to figure out what I like." Now that I have a better idea, and I feel comfortable expressing my outer beauty to myself, I greatly appreciate content by creators such as yourself who so generously encourage us to think critically about our purchases. My family is amazing, but they are certainly a handful, and I'm glad everyone is busy for thanksgiving and we won't be reuniting until Christmas. I needs me a break lol but I'm still putting my face on at home. So I will give you one of my favoritest quotes by someone I consider a wonderfully crazy, self-taught musician (Captain BeefHeart), an individual as weird as they come, to help us all be proud of our creativity, uniqueness, nerve and talent: " If I'm not the peacock's tail feather, who is?" 🦚

Thank you so much for that quote, I'm going to take that with me! And I think getting into the beauty space is such a hard thing to do without running into pitfalls. Makeup is fun and exploring it is fun, but when you start getting into makeup content most people are trying to make a sale and may not ask you to question if you'll actually use something before you buy it. I just wish that it wasn't all about the newness!

I bought the pallet when it came out, thought it multiple times, then started buying the duos and then the refills. I think I have been using this product for a decade and it still just works for me! We don't have Thanksgiving in Portugal (of course), but the holidays are rough for most people, I personally dread Christmas because I can't wait to be back home with my cats as my partner is abroad and I only join him a couple of days after Christmas. When I started wearing makeup I also thought blush made me girlie and Marco from 20 years ago wouldn't dream that I now would be pursuing very cold pink blushes or lilac blushes (yet to find the perfect one, I think the Dior one is PH adjusting and ewwww no). That being said, it's nice of you to make content to keep your viewers company throughout the holidays.

"Doing my makeup in a Tom-honouring way" is absolutely how I'm going to refer to it whenever my makeup includes a sheer scattered sparkle effect, or I actually bother to whip out "Intuition" to contour. 😂🤣 I really feel your holiday discomfort as a queer person. It almost feels awkward to participate in any amount of tradition because I semi-consciously associate them with... Exclusion. Most holidays are manufactured for the nuclear family unit, or cater to Christianity which has a history of calling for our demise. I just... Can't connect to it, beyond as an excuse to eat food or buy things for my friends. Anything deeper than that feels inaccessible. I would rather spend my time/energy to go all out on birthdays for the people I love, because at least I know those days haven't been spoiled by the looming spectre of hate.
