I feel for you and have huge empathy for our patients because you can't see autoimmune diseases so people don't understand how debilitating they can be. I was diagnosed with Sjogren's early this year, after decades of doctors telling me that I was too young to have joint pains. I have mild dry eyes and luckily no dry mouth which are the two symptoms that is most associated with Sjogren's. It was scary being told I had an autoimmune disease but I felt relief that I was not crazy and the joint pain was legit! I follow another creator that has EDS and I saw her wearing a brace to help cook. I thought that was such a brilliant idea because I cannot do repetitive movements without my hands/wrist joints killing me. I now have a wrist brace for both hands and finger compression gloves. They allow me to continue doing the things I love, and maybe a good option if you wanted to try it. Wishing you all the best❤

@@sghyara5471 Of course! Firstly, sorry that you have to deal with joint pains, they are truly awful! I went to my primary doctor and basically said look I have joint pains and they get bad to the point that I can't get up sometimes or even move my hands. I basically told him that none of my prior doctors ever did anything about it and that I just really wanted to get an answer because this felt wrong. He then told me I would have to do some bloodwork and he requested an Arthritis Comprehensive Panel (I think that is what it is called). Within that panel were a few tests that include Sjogren's. I would ask the doctor before doing bloodwork if that is included to make sure they test for it, because it is my understanding that Sjogren's is widely under diagnosed for younger people (younger than 60 yrs I believe).

About 20 years ago I went plant based by choice. Fast forward and I got diagnosed with a few serious heart conditions in 2019 (not due to being plant based but due to eating unhealthy options). I gave up all caffeine, alcohol and went low sodium and low sugar. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with fibroids. 🤦🏻♀️ So now I can’t eat any meat, vegetable oils, seafood, dairy, sugar, simple cards, soy based products (tofu, sauces, most plant based packaged foods, dried fruit, and a few other things. Toss in texture issues because I was fed mostly bread and pasta as a kid and there’s almost nothing I can safely eat anymore. I definitely 100% feel your struggle Erin. I’m so sorry because food can be so joyful but I feel like all the joy has been taken away. Try not to fall too much into the “food to fix it” trap. You can do everything right and still flare up. But also, some things that are “good for you” might flare you up and “bad for you” things might be fine. Nightshades and gluten are fine for me. But I have a histamine intolerance (kombucha gives me a migraine and the next day I can’t close my hand because my joints are so swollen) and white bread agrees with me while whole grains don’t. Definitely test things out, but it’s not one size fits all and it’s not going to be the end all be all for making you feel better or worse. It HELPS, it doesn’t fix. Food is fuel, don’t fall into the trap of making it an enemy with your diseases like many of us have. It’s a lot of work to undo the negative relationship with food if you do fall into the trap, avoid it from go and remind yourself that it’s not the end all be all. And if avoiding pizza is more of a mental health burden on you, understand that mental health does get a weigh in vs physical health. Sometimes you just need to eat the damn pizza and not beat yourself up over it

Hi Erin, I can totally relate to your situation as I also suffer from both autoimmune diseases and have experienced Uveitis in the past. Keep an eye on your ankles too, since Ankylosing Spondylitis can cause inflammation issues in your feet and ankles as well (similar to Uveitis). I understand the challenges and empathize with the pain you're going through. Your videos caught my attention when I came across your review of instant hot chocolate. It was funny because I'm also a Swiss Miss fan, purely out of nostalgia!!! I was searching for 'best camping hot chocolate'. Could the KZbin algo be so good as to suggest someone with awesome hot chocolate tips who also shares similar autoimmune disease issues??? Anyway, while changing your diet can be beneficial, I've personally experienced that biologic medications like Humira are true wonder drugs. It sounds like you've probably already gone down that road but just wanted to share. I'm also focusing on improving my diet and incorporating exercise as well. I personally don't think you have to go all vegan or keto. I'm also pre-diabetic and have found that everything in moderation has been good for my weight and autoimmune issues but that def the meds for me have been the most beneficial. Yay modern medicine! I think it's great that you already know how to stretch and can show off some workout routines. I'm thinking of trying out copilot because of you. I think that's something that both my wife and I can use. I wish you the very best in everything you do. You're awesome! Hang in there! :)

Haha, yeah. R.W Knudsen's Apple, beet and ginger juice is like that for me. It tastes so weird because each sip is a hit of each thing individually, but it's lovely. Probably all sugar and a bit expensive (not 9 bucks tho) and the Wal-Mart near me doesn't carry it online now, but it's sooo good! Sorry you're dealing with this. We all have our burdens/illnesses/whatever and some are worse than others. Would love to try some of these because I've been eating healthier for a couple months now (it feels like forever) because I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic with high blood sugar at only 37. I'm also a health wreck anyway, with high BP and cholesterol, so I went from eating whatever I wanted and just eating frozen meals all the time (I hate cooking) to eating fruits, veggies and eggs and limiting carbs and sugar. (Thing that's gotten me is eating too much cheese, but most of it's been light or no fat/low fat. Still not very healthy because it's CHEESE!) Wish you all the best!

My Momhas either one of your autoimmune diseases or both....She finally got diagnosed. She eats about the same as I do so hopefully that helps. I have Lupus. I tried all the autoimmune related diets inc Paleo, AIP and Keto. I was Paleo for the longest time but it takes ages to figure out what you can eat/what tastes alright. I found out I only needed to eat mostly gluten-free, eat ultra low sugar (not inc fruit) and that's about it. My Lupus is in remission and I'd probably restrict again if I had a major flare again. Also why did you put the berries in vinegar and water? I've never heard of that.

Autoimmune diets are so frustrating since each rendition does not work for everyone. I have many autoimmune health problems too. I have been battling for 11 years now since I was 21. It has been quite the ordeal. I also weirdly developed a ton of food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities, which have made special diets even more complex since nuts, avocados, legumes and more are totally off limits now. I know stress also plays a huge part aside from diet, exercise and sleep. Erin, you are a warrior. Hang in there. I have been a fan of yours since your Clevver days. I always hoped I would get well enough that I would maybe have the opportunity to work with you in some capacity. Anyway, my autoimmune health problems have totally railroaded my life. There are still many things my doctors have not diagnosed since I am "not textbook". 😝 Anyway, be well or as well as you can be. Every single day is a journey especially with these chronic health problems and I think as long as we wake up and keep trying to live life that is good enough. 🤗 I so appreciate your transparency with your health journey since some days I feel so isolated, but I know I am not truly alone. Thank you.
@ErinRobinson2 жыл бұрын
Melissa...what a freaking journey you've been on! They are all so different and also effect people so differently. It feels so insurmountable! I also think stress is my main trigger but sadly, it doesn't even have to be a lot of stress. Sometimes being mildly "concerned" my body will slap me around. It's so wild.
@MelissaMarini2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, each person winds up having their own set of symptoms and yet for some reason so many doctors treat every single patient as carbon copies of each other and if the treatment plans fails, you are at fault then. It is beyond frustrating. I have seen many rheumatologists in the last 11 years along with a large assortment of other specialists. Anyway, I totally feel you on the tiniest bit of concern or worry winding up terrorizing your body. I try to take daily epsom salt soaks. They help and so does meditation to some extent. I wish it was possible to turn back the clock to right before becoming chronically ill, but I like to hope this happened for a reason bigger than myself, ya know? I learned how resilient I am. I am sure you have too. It is a chaotic ride we are on. I am so thankful you have used your platform to inform and educate about your own journey. So many people have belittled my journey or have made it seem as if I am making it up since I am too young to get this sick, but realistically illness can hit anyone at any age and I think I know my body better than anyone else. Thanks again for being so vulnerable and honest. I know it is certainly not easy sharing these things about your personal health, but you are doing it on a much larger scale and I hope you know it is making a positive impact. Take care, Erin! I know with the holiday season ahead of us, my symptoms usually flare even more regardless of the happiness I tend to associate with it since there is always stress involved. Truly stress-free life seems unrealistic so it is super unhelpful when doctors say "take the stress out of your life." 🤷♀️🤦♀️ Anyway, be well. 💚

I have 4 inmune system disorders and if I eat your diet, I would probably be dead. I guess it depends of the type of inmune disorders. Coffee is recomended for an inmune disorder. It is consume right after is made and helps with the fatigue, tireness and brain fog. Glutten, lactose, vinager, culture (yogurt, hard cheese), fruits and veggies with bright colors ( berries, lettuce, spinash, kale, etc), anything citric, preservatives, penuts, any juice, soda, shake needs to be avoid. Any green veggie except green beans or asparagus. Any leftovers needs to be freeze to be consume again. This avoid the increase of histamine in foods due to the process of discomposition. This is because inmune system disorders are triggered through the consumption of histamine. All that we consume produce histamine. The idea is to eat food that has low levels of histamine so our inmune system is not triggered and stop the flairs. It takes around 8 months to see results and sometimes is not enough and patients have to take a new different anti-histamine meds in addition to the diet. Water and coffee are your friends. Kiwi, passion fruits, or acerola contains more vit C than an orange and not too much histamine. Is a very difficult diet to follow but it helps a lot.
