My Dad is a photographer in the Lake District, and has spent years travelling, taking landscape photographs. A couple of weeks ago he was revisiting a favourite spot of his in the Lake District to photograph a birch tree that he and many others have been photographing and enjoying for decades. On that trip, he arrived to find it had been cut down, and the trunk mostly just discarded to the side. Whilst I love seeing people enjoy the outdoors - please remember that whilst to you it might be a random tree that nobody will care about, to someone else, it might be so much more. There's no need to be chopping down trees - not least of which due there already been felled trees around. Gas-based stoves are incredibly efficient for cooking, or just carry firewood if you must build a fire, or collect it from the ground. Sorry to seem like such a fart.
@peterdoherty2390Ай бұрын
All good mate the only trees we cut down were rotten at their base and on their way down anyway.
@Ericd-j9gАй бұрын
I agree. It may have been rotten at the base but my thoughts are leave standing trees alone. Also it may encourage others who have seen this to chop trees down that are still living. Other than that I really enjoyed your video.

That is a dead tree in a tree farm no one is taking pictures of it. Sorry to be so direct.
@NarcFreedomАй бұрын
@@peterdoherty2390 Aim for leave no trace. Of course the fire is necessary for warmth. Only take fallen wood. Small gas canister stoves are amazing for cooking as well. The good ones can very quickly boil water and they’re ready to burn instantly, no mucking about.

I would love to have a band of brothers like you guys again. I had 2 buddies growing up. There were 3 of us. As we got older, one of us made some poor decisions and now he’s paying the price of it incarcerated. The other one just ghosted me after a while after he met his wife and had a kid. I’m all alone by myself. Tried dating but it never worked out. Sometimes you need a male friend to do guy stuff like this but it’s hard to find a new friend when you’re already an adult.

Love it lads. I can see your channel going far. Id refrain from chopping down trees and use a little fire pit though personally. It just sets a bad example for other wild campers. When youre making content on the internet, people look up to you and the standards you set. I know the tree looked like it had come to the end of its lifespan but in actuality, standing dead trees are a vital part of a healthy ecosystem. I really cant state quite how important they are tbh. Sorry to be negative. I myself have learned all these lessons the hard way, luckily i learned them all before i started my own youtube channel. Keep up the great content. I look forward to watching your channel grow. 😊

it was just peaty water go ahead and drink it. im 60 lived all my days inS otland that water is probably better than the water in most taps in England
@bikerpaul68Ай бұрын
I've drunk peaty water on many hiking trips to Scotland and never suffered ill-effects, but I always collected it from fast-running streams. If the water shown in the video came from stagnant ponds or slow-flowing streams near the loch then I would avoid it.
@bikerpaul68Ай бұрын
This is very different from the series in the Alps but just as well-made and fascinating. I'll be interested to see how you survive the Scottish midges! August is a bad month for them. By the way, I doubt very much if those trees you chopped up were part of the original Caledonian Forest.
