This is most important to saving distance for defend players

few things, with the body positioning you want you're dominant foot to be closest to the ball so you can strike out when the attacker tries to quickly knock a ball past you (you could see this in the premier league clip they used). Also the distance should basically be close enough that you only need one stride forward to be within striking range of the ball, this means you could capatilize on mistakes the attacker makes when dribbling. Last thing, slide tackling is cool but it's very rarely the right option, basically only use when you are otherwise unable to block a run, shot or cross.
