Idea, a challenge called "Update", where you take past projects and let new or even the same devs give the game an update, and to see how much farther you can push it.
@egorthehawk48245 ай бұрын
This is a solid idea. Some of the past games are so good and I wish they would continue to push them on and see what would come of them. Some just end up with lots of potential but no more work done.

For context for anyone who doesn't know, Blackthornprod exploits people for free content and treats them terribly. He made people participate in videos like this and threw away all their work because they didn't want to post the video anymore, and completely ghosted the developers. Andrew Cunningham recently posted a story about this, please watch his video. A bigger KZbinr needs to pick this story up and expose Blackthornprod for their shameless behavior.

@@MDG-mykys One pair of devs(Andrew Cunningham+Toby) reached out to participate in some video and were meant to be 2nd in a pass the game challenge but Blackthornprod accidentally sent the game to another dev too meaning the video has to be reworked a bit to not leave either of the devs who went 2nd out. They're then offered chance to be 2nd dev in another video and despite not really liking the idea Andrew decides to take part anyway for exposure and they end up wanting to extend the deadline by a day, 3 days before it but get no response from Blackthornprod until a day before it saying he'd like to scrap the idea whole since it isn't performing that well and hopes instead do an entirely different idea if it isn't too late but on Andrew saying that's not exactly fair Blackthornprod promises to do a video with the previous idea since they already did the work for it and thanks them for taking part and says they're almost done with the pass the game video before not paying attention to them for 2 months. After 2 months and multiple unanswered messages they finally send a long message explaining they didn't take part in the videos for fun and if the videos aren't going to be released they'll have to make their own video to get some use out of the work they did to which they get a response of sorry, yeah the 2nd video is in fact cancelled(shouldn't have started on multiple episodes of a series before seeing how the first episode performed) so make the video and he'll promote it, also the pass the game challenge video will get done at some point. But then a week later Blackthornprod manages to find new devs for the 2nd video so if they're ok to wait 2 months for it they'll get that done too but in a heavily cut down form(to correct the issues the series seemed to have)... Then after a month or two of delay and no updates they start asking after the pass the game video that's supposed to be released soon and after some more delays they get told sorry they have basically no idea when they'll release either of the videos and 2nd one is a low priority so won't make the mistake of trying to promise a specific date and that they probably should release their own video if they want to. tldr:You probably shouldn't consider taking part in one of these videos to be part of your timed pre-release marketing push and not take part in video ideas you think aren't that great.

@Frienea its a trade: i receive a lot of money, and you receive insulting behaviour and 2 minutes of runtime that you yourself will have to edit, and also i might change my mind days before deadline. deal?
@helianthus_the-eye4 ай бұрын
@Frienea there's no way you are being serious right now. game devs that participate aren't buying an ad: they dont have any contract that can protect them from their work being exploited, they have no control over how much run time they have in the video since blackthorn can just cut their segmnt or scrub video without any substantial reason after all the work was already done. they dont have any guarantees on how much people will watch the video, unlike LITERALLY ANY OTHER MARKETING. they are being exploited under the pretense of possible exposure without any confirmation or guarantee that that exposure is actually going to happen. it's not illegal, but there s a reason why "working for exposure" is so hated by everybody who is against the exploitation of creative people
@cate01a4 ай бұрын
@Frienea nah not sure trading pure hard work and effort for mere exposure is a good trade imo content you create is next to invaluable, not because it's excellent, but because it is something you made, and that will always exist, forever and always. and unique effort is special because it encapsulates the persons unique experiences and efforts and skills into one project with passion behind it I suspect if the devs put however many hours of hard work into their game and the youtube video into their own work, they would get much more out of it in the long run
@helianthus_the-eye4 ай бұрын
@Frienea you are straw manning me. i have never called them devils, i called out their poor work practices. and asking for decent treatment of creative people is not "trying to be the hero of justice", you just said that because it would make me sound unreasonable for demanding them to be saints, which i am not. in my social circle (mostly creative people), "work for exposure" is not a normal practice and is looked down upon. if it's normal in yours, then that is just a reason to ask why, not a reason to go in comments and try to normalize exploitative work practices

Fantastic overall game. Sometimes the chaos is fun, but seeing how smooth it goes sometimes is also fantastic. The addition of the IK legs to the cubes was probably the biggest genius moment. It elevated all the placeholder boxes to unique designs, and allowed the easy implementation of other enemies by just picking a color, box, and legs. Not sure about the obstacles making a return at the end, but cool to see the aesthetic they came with. I think everyone should be proud of this one.

The way the low poly hand slides in and moves is just satisfying and cool 🧊 Also White Background looked way better

Another banger from the pass the game challenge, but I don't think I've ever seen all 5 devs so laser focused on the task. Well done all devs, and happy to see some of you come back :)

Devs 3 and 5 absolutely nailed this shit. Would love to see the two of them to collaborate on continuing this game.

3:05 "So anyone with knowledge of abstract classes can make their own" This describes, I hope, every game dev ever on this channel.

This is one of those results I think would be an amazing candidate for a "5 Devs _Complete_ the Game" challenge. 😛 The core game is there. It just needs content.

They finally all cooked with zero BS. Imma be real I'm usually a Love to hate these videos type of guy cause they always go so wrong, but this was just watching 5 master chefs in action creating a gourmet dish. Good stuff.

Joe, Rugbug and Darkroom carried this one, but everyone’s contributions were amazing. This is my favorite pass the game I’ve seen
