Julia, my budget was very tight this past week. I live by myself and live paycheck to paycheck. As there were unforseen expenses this month, I was seriously concerned about having enough food to eat while getting to my next pay-day. I followed everything you did in this video, and I couldn't be more grateful! With the leftovers, I was able to eat comfortably all week. I don't feel like I had to sacrifice nutrition or had to skip meals. THANK YOU. I'm a new subscriber.

Helpful taste tip for fajitas: For any Mexican cuisine, if you want more flavor buy the seasoning called Sazón Goya (orange box) in the Mexican cuisine section. 8 packs should last you a while! I use only a half packet typically for 4-6 servings if food. If you don’t have garlic, use it with garlic and onion powder. If you feel the need for salt I recommend garlic salt with it. It is what a lot of Mexican restaurants (in the midwest) use to season their meat

That soup reminds me so much of a soup I make every once in a while. The ingredients for mine are: Kielbasa Ham (16oz. Oscar Mayer) Pepperoni (8-10 oz pkg) 1 can of corn 1 can of diced tomatoes 1 can of peas (or green beans) 8oz. elbow macaroni Green onion (scallions) Beef, chicken or vegetable stock (32 oz. or enough to cook noodles) Chop/cube kielbasa, ham, pepperoni, and onion up. Throw into big, deep pot with bout a table spoon of olive oil. Let it get some brown onto sausage then add all remaining ingredients including liquids in cans (adds so much more flavor). Bring to boil then lower temp to simmer. Cover and let simmer until noodles are done. No need for seasoning bc there's literally so much flavor from everything you're putting in but you could add if you want. This recipe is so versatile. You could change it up and add just about anything and it'd taste just as delicious. That's why I love this recipe so much. You can not mess it up. Give it a whirl and see what you think 😊. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

@@JuliaPacheco I've been calling it 'Italian gumbo' bc tbh didn't know what else to call it and came up with the idea by putting what you'd put on a pizza into a soup (hints the pepperoni, ham, sausage, onion, tomatoes (and noodles to replace the dough)) and adding a few other things to add more flavor and....pizzazz I guess you could say 😊. I just wanted something completely different. It actually turned out amazing and quite the hit with the family, so win, win 😊. I, personally, can not get enough of it when I do make it and make a pig of myself which is why I don't make it that often 😂.

So many "cooking on a budget" videos include buying a bunch of cans and packets and mashing them together. Maybe I'm old school, but I always felt that starting from scratch is cheaper, except you have to have some things in your pantry and keep staples, like onions, garlic, potatoes, etc, on hand. You impressed me when you started off with a scratch marinara. (Yes, I count using canned tomatoes as scratch, if it's good enough for nonna, it's good enough for me.)

That was fun! The soup was a surprise. I have never seen a recipe like that. I do like minestrone soup and will definitely give it a try. Thank you for the recipes. Everyone needs a few cheap and easy recipes on busy evenings. Do you still live close to your family? I hope so. Everyone seemed so happy together. I hope you have a great week.💘

Love these recipes! My $5 or less super easy recipe is chicken breast in the crockpot topped with Pace Picante. I would put frozen chicken breasts in the crockpot before work and let this go all day. Can be served with corn or beans - or those could be added at the end. Thanks for the ideas!

@@JuliaPacheco Thanks! Leftovers make for an easy 2nd meal or two of tacos, nachos, taco salad, or enchiladas. I'd love a whole video of "cook once - eat several times" options if you ever feel like doing that. I love how you highlight nutrition and prioritize nutrients! You channel is awesome.

Julia, you ALWAYS make me hungry! Everything looked so delicious. Love that you use Kroger, as I find it to be SUPER economical. I want to make all of these, as usual, but the turkey/Spanish rice will probably be first. I already have the ingredients. I hope you're having a wonderful time in the new home already, and REALLY looking forward to videos from that incredible kitchen! Love and YUMs!

These look good! One easy meal i like to make is cesar chicken Its just boneless skinless chicken breasts Parmesan cheese Cesar dressing (i like wishbone brand) Preheat oven to 375 Season chicken to taste (italian seasoning, garlic powder etc) Sprinkle with parmesan Pour dressing on top. Bake until fully cooked about 35-45 minutes. Use warm dressing on bottom of pan for a side salad or noodles.

Love them!!! You did great! A budget friendly meal which will feed ALOT of people less than 20.00? And what items would you recommend to have at home in your stock pile? Make ahead meals, easy to freeze only need crock pot or instant pot?
@JuliaPacheco4 жыл бұрын
I love these questions Yvette! One of my favorite budget friendly meals that feeds a lot of people is actually lasagna because it is delicious and pretty inexpensive! I love making ahead casseroles and freezing them because they do freeze quite well! I also love stockpiling anything in a can such as beans or diced tomatoes

Less than 20? Spaghetti Bolognese is my go to "feed a ton of people" meal. I ALWAYS have leftovers without fail. If you have leftover noodles, you can toss them with a bit of oil, garlic, and parmesan cheese.
