I am missing my daughter... who lives in Amsterdam! I was supposed to fly over from Ottawa Canada and hang out with her in that beautiful city (like we have done before). Missing experiencing the vibe, architecture, history, food and art of the NL with my favourite girl.

HI Joey Jaq! When talking about cycling you forgot to mention the absolute freedom one feels without a bulky, ugly helmet.....hair flying in the wind....loved it! Now that I'm living back in Canada it's once again "helmet head" time. :-(

I just miss the freedom of spontaneity. Like on a Sunday doing a city walk, visit a museum, go to the theatre, watching a movie or drinking coffee at a terrace and dine afterwards. You can do other things, like biking, hiking etc., but you need to plan almost everything, take your own lunch and research what the rules are. But it’s a small discomfort and adjustment on my part.

We are not 1.5 meter distance people, thats why its hard for us, we miss social contact, with everything, so every thing what you do is social contact. They said we can do this together. but....there is no together with 1.5 meter. but hey next year better :-)

Boatlive is the live where I grew up. I think there where as much boats as there where households in the town I grew up in (in the polder next to Amsterdam). Love it

Oh Joey, I hate winter to, but the funny thing is that we haven't had a real winter since 2011🤣🤣I do hate the darkness of winter though... And another observation, you just miss 1 thing 😉you miss Gezelligheid. I can relate I think we all do.

You can go outside without being in busy places tho. I just cycled to lots of places in the past month. I live in Groningen, so cycled to Winschoten, Lauwersoog, Leek and Pieterburen. It is so nice! And the best way to get a tan. I thought people were still allowed to go on boats as well.... Do you know those 'fietsknooppunten', those green plates with numbers that lead you to fun places

The thing I miss most at the moment are the fireworks. Like, each year around august, it starts with demonstrations, from small shows like a local dealer, to huge shows like Scheveningen. I am so afraid they will not go trough, so I am really miss them. Fireworks is my passion. And it's already hard, because people are getting to be haters because of lies and government restrictions, but still. Also I do miss the emergency events. Like normally around these times I've already been to different contests (ABWC) or open/112 dagen and so on. This year there is nothing like that. The only connection I still have with the emergency services are the emergency calls I photograph (partly as hobby, partly as a job, news photographer). There aren't even practise nights anymore. (And when those "oefeningen" are done, we always went to the bar in the fire house, and the night was SO much fun...If you are part of, even as just a photographer, , you really gonne enjoy it. Like, they see bad shit out there, and to compensate for that, it's always SUPER GEZELLIG if they get together for just a nigh of, drinks and talks. Also I do miss visiting my grandma's, And seeying my friends. But for the rest everything is quite normal. Go to work each day, go outside to take pictures of nature and so on, enjoy a nice icecream and so on. It's still possible, just a little bit of 1.5 meter distance is enough xD

What I really really really going to miss this summer is the Kermis at Tilburg, de Roze zaterdag and offcourse number 1....so going to miss the Amsterdam Pride which has been canceled. How will I ever survive this summer oh my God sweet Jezus above.

I've lived in the NL for two years now, and I've never been to Amsterdam/ Rotterdam. I don't think I'm missing out on anything. Am I wrong?

Nope, I have lived in NL all my life, and I've only been to Amsterdam like 2 times. I don't feel like I need to go there. There's so much more to find outside of the big cities.

Depends on what you are looking for. There are many great things and places to see and visit outside Amsterdam and Rotterdam (or even outside de Randstad). But I have to say nothing beats the museums, concert halls and some other cultural places in Amsterdam👌🏻👌🏻 And no, I’m not saying there aren’t any great cultural places to visit outside Amsterdam, but the ones there, are definitely a must visit! At least, if you are interested in those sort of things 😄

@@irenekusje I agree on that so much! The museums, the concert hall, and the canals are wonderful. And there are some other beautiful old buildings there as well. But definitely try to avoid the main shopping streets on the weekends, if you don't like crowds

I thought you would mention all the summer festivals and events. This summer will be so weird. Our main event of the summer, the huge fun fair, is cancelled. I have a love hate relationship with it because of the noise and the huge crowds and the mess afterwards but at the same time I do like the vibe, gezelligheid, people having a good time. Many years ago we went on holiday during the fun fair and all summer we had the idea something was missing so we never went on holiday again during that time as it's such a must go to thing but now there is nothing. Yes I will miss that a lot. And I also miss it just going to the shopping centre without being stressed of people going into your bubble.

I'm from Nijmegen, the whole year I live towards the third week of july. Even though I'm not a party animal at all, I'm goin to miss De Vierdaagse and De Vierdaagsefeesten. The city is going to feel so emty and weird this year. For the past 4 years one of my best friends would stay at my place the whole week, and last year we finaly managed to persuade some other friend to come as well. They all underestimated the scale of the whole event and promised to stay longer this year. I was really looking forward to having my studentroom turned into a hotel for my friends and make fun memories, weird stuff always happens that week haha... I'm sad. :(

I think i agree with you on everything we just could put it down as missing socializing in general. I also dont want to cal this the new normal i hope the good things wil go back to how it was before. But i do agree that we should look into how we could take care of eachother an our environment better in the future.

As you know i am "old"...(Just turned 45 a week ago) and i like this silence (i am pretty shy)..Not really a terrasjes person but i get it why people like it...It's because of the nice drinks and food and people around you..AND the weather..Ohh that sun..lovely. What i do miss is that i was supposed to be in the US right now so i am sad about that but other then that i am pretty happy the way it is..My wife on the other hand is gonna need some time away from the house. (she works at home all the time even before corona) So it is a problem to go somewhere for a week or 2..But hey i'll make it work.. Great vlog Joey Hasta la pasta babe 😘
