From High school to about 69 years of age, my longest was 3 mins and 15 secs, but that was literally just with face in water very comfortably warm water end of summer pool. Recently after starting freediving again, I was just using my method (not trained) but out of pool in recliner chair working simply with relaxation, I came to 3:30. I was really surprised, thinking that age would diminish my capacity. I'll be going over some of this video again and again, to practice some of these techniques. Thanks for the helpful tips. Thank you for the instruction, Gert! I really enjoyed your video. I'm at 1 min 30 sec sitting here at my desk (which I attempted before watching your video instructing me to do this while lying down!) I plan to go snorkeling in five months time, so I am hoping to improve my breath holding, using your techniques. I will try to remember to post my progress. I have been a fan of breath holding and freediving, ever since reading 'Through the Tunnel' as a young man. I would always swim underwater in the pool from end-to-end to practice, but this was before the web and I didn't know what I was doing and information was hard to find, so I never seriously pursued the sport. Now that I am older (53) I am becoming interested again, because I appreciate the mental (yoga) aspect to it and it seems like a sport in which age doesn't have the same negative effects. I have subscribed and hope to learn much from you. Thank you, again!

I set the timmer to two minutes on my watch, it was dark so I couldn't see well. When I took my last breath I pressed the button to activate the timmer only thing is it was on the chronometer and I didn't realize. I held my breath waiting for the beep at two minutes. When I couldn't go any longer I took a breath and looked at my watch and that's when I realized I had started the chronometer insted of the timmer. 3'34 minutes had passed.

welcome! please watch the Playlist BREATHING TECHNIQUES for other videos and to get an understanding of what a breathup is actually and what's it used for. For diving or pool diving tidal breathing is the way to breathe up. cheers

I can hold my breath for 4:00 min. I've just been practicing for like 1 1/2 months now and looking for more stuff to help me improve.

Wow this is pretty cool!! At the beginning of this video I timed myself with no technique(33 secs) I could hold my breath. As video progressed tried again and made it (42s) once I got to the relaxing technique I made it to 54 seconds without even thinking about it. When I looked at my watch then it got mental and only made it to 1:12. Getting better!!

I did it I never thought clearing your mind was a big part I closed my eyes and made when I thought I was about to burst I opened them and saw I had 25 seconds left so I held and made it

Maybe im late but it was the same to me, I naturally closed my eyes and focused on holding it in, when I opened it was 1:45 and I was like "oh shit hold it a bit more" and got 2:06

Hi, after shorter but increasing duration warmups I managed 5min 1 second, tried 5 days later only managed 4minutes. My urge to breathe kicks in around 2 minutes 30 each time which always overrides my ability to relax lol

When i tried it by myself before watching this it was the worst thing ever. But after doing exactly what you said i was able to it from first try!!! I tried so hard at the last few moments not to breathe but i couldn't. I hope that the second attempt i would be able to do it, it's just the urge is so tough. Thank you very much you are the best. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic info! I love free diving. It’s pretty relaxing to hold one’s breath and feel the pressure of the water, once you dive deeper and deeper. It’s a bit scary when you start a free fall. One thing I wouldn’t recommend beginners is not to hyperventilate before the dive.
@gertleroy Жыл бұрын
absolutely. this video is not meant as a breathup for freediving. it's a way to get beginners going on a dry static breath hold
