Hi SonduckFilm, excellent tutorials which are really helping me. I have one issue with the last technique, after adding the displacement map effect, when I set the Displacement Map Layer to "Glitch Map", as you do at 10:34, nothing happens. The glitch effect does not show up on the text. Moving the horizontal displacement only moves the text itself to the side. Followed your steps precisely on my laptop and university PC, same thing happened. Any ideas?
@sergiosantolo73565 жыл бұрын
I've encountered the same issue. Did you find a solution?
@di4mnd5 жыл бұрын
In the "Displacement Map Layer" instead of "Source" you need to set "Effects & Masks". Hope it works for you!

Wonderful wonderful. Thank you!! Mate. Great great quick lesson on making a rectangle a mask - the skill can be extrapolated endlessly. Only question is how to properly make multiple items interact with that mask instead of one title? Is that all pre-composing? Thank you I understand if you never see this lol.

Hey Josh and everyone in chat, so I use windows for my Adobe After Effects and I see that the options for the Track Matte differ on my version. Now I'm not sure if it was updated and has changed or if this has to do with the OS I am using. When I try to find the Alpha Inverted drop down option, I am unable to find it under the Track Matte. Is there a different way I can find this mode and apply it? Would love any help in this area as I'm just starting out with AE.
@ShellJacks272 жыл бұрын
Okay, so, I think I figured it out and just want to leave this here for anyone that may be experiencing the same issue. **I believe I have figured it out, but please do correct me if I'm wrong.** This is for the "Shapes with Titles" example. 1. When clicking the drop down in the Track Matte, I selected the "Motion" text layer. 2. After which a mask layer icon appeared next to the drop down box. If you click right next to it, the matte will be inverted. Additionally if you want to make it a luma matte, simply click on the mask layer icon that appeared.

to prevent the mask from following the text you have to precompose as he did in the first example
@lippygaming1873 жыл бұрын
@@steveloudon7491 yeah just leaned this after wondering for ages.......could you explain why that is though??
@steveloudon74913 жыл бұрын
@@lippygaming187 precomposing makes everything inside a single entity. For instance if you have several shapes and precompose them then go to the precompoition and change position or some other property the whole thing will change at once. Same for text. Precompose a text layer and you can change the text whenever you want while retaining any effects used on the text.
@ukaszbiakowski5774 жыл бұрын
question for you guys. Why do I need to precompose this solid? If I do everthing following these instructions but do not precompose - this effect is not visible.
@조승연-k1p5 жыл бұрын
Can you explain how does the 4th effect work? I can follow you, but It is hard to get how it's done. Maybe I'm not that used to the scale animator.
@mikem26143 жыл бұрын
You must be missing some steps. I cant get even get the first one to work..The blue timer indicator never plays from beginning, always starts directly from where it is. And also the subtitle completely disappears after the mask has been put on.
