You have to try the 2 pools at Hot Creek in that same area. Epic 60s and 70s hippie hot springs party spot. Fenced off these days, but people still get in.
@LiveThatAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Aren't those pools extremely hot and that's why they are fenced off?? I think we might stay in the cooler pools. Don't want to get cooked. lol.

The turquoise blue upper pools are deadly hot, the 2 pools connected to the cold creek are great but still fenced off. Fantastic mixture of cold/hot water.

The neat things about these hot springs was that they were in the creek (not talking about the aqua pools) and you could swim and find warm currents. Last time I went was ‘99 and they closed it off sometime after that.

Buddy lives on Hwy6 23 miles above Bishop. He has showed me all kinds of places off Benton Hwy . For instance there is one dirt Rd you turn down and drive into a sheepherders valley...,.private land....that said there is a small spring fed lake there with natural brown trout just boiling in the morning. Benton Hwy is a great alternative to 395...and goes from desert to pines and comes out at Mono Lake. The desert area is also a great place to hunt for indian arrowheads after a rtain storrm.
@LiveThatAdventure2 жыл бұрын
That sounds so awesome! Definitely something we should check out. I dont believe ive ever been on hwy 6 before. Its amazing how much there is to be explored out that way.
@JohnDoe-xu2vx2 жыл бұрын
@@LiveThatAdventure Yup, next time instead of heading up 395 just veer right onto Hwy6 right by the fairgrounds and head north to Benton Hwy crossing . In the lil area known as Benton there is a consignment antique shop ands behind it are gravity fed wooden hot tubs spread around the trees discreetly. They rent out then hot tubs...its pretty cool. Anyway the Benton Hwy goes through the desert and government land and there are some whoop de doos in the road where you go up and then straight down. You rarely will see another car on the road. Eventually you will start seeing pine trees as you climb in elevation and then you come out at mono Lake....its a great and relaxing drive

These all look amazing, but especially the last one! Years (a lot of years) ago we went to a hot spring south of Bishop, but I have no idea where it was. It was nice though!

They are all so much fun to visit. Always be sure to check the temperature before you hop in. Some of them are pretty toasty! There are really nice ones outside of Bridgeport as well. Hopefully, we can hit those soon!
@FranticFrenchman3 жыл бұрын
A couple things to keep in mind when visiting these tubs. As mentioned in the video, be very careful about water temperature. A freshly filled tub will have water hot enough to cause severe burns. Even sitting next to the filling spigot in a already filled tub can be dangerous. Camping at the tubs is not recommended as it is not allowed in undeveloped campgrounds on LADWP land. LAWDP has a list of approved campgrounds on their website. Be safe and enjoy the tubs.

Yeah, best not to camp in the wide open forest. Best to go to downtown LA, next to the highway. 👍👌

@LiveThatAdventure Жыл бұрын
Hey Erick! You might be able to make it in on the main road, but you would probably have to hike in to the springs. 4x4 isn't required but some ground clearance is.

H+We have heard conflicting information. According to the Bureau of Land Management website, it looks like camping is allowed there. We camped there for a couple days with no issues. Just be sure to practice leave no trace :)

Do you know if setting a campfire is allowed? Hoe hot do these springs get? Gonna be camping there a night at Crab Cooker.
@LiveThatAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Hey, you probably want to check in with the BLM office there. The regulation for campfire varies depending on the season. We don't really know the exact temperature, some seems hotter (Hilltop) than the other. Make sure you check before entering.
