Thanks so much for these vids. I have an HZJ80 with a DTS turbo which I really enjoy as a hobby. I’m also on the Central Coast so know those roads intimately. Really informative and inspiring.

Thanks mate for the kind words! I love these landcruisers so the more info I can put out there for others to enjoy them the better! 👍🏼 also nice to hear from another central coast local! We’ve been here a couple of years now and LOVE it

Yep, same. Moved up to Umina from Northern Beaches 7 years ago. Still work in Sydney but love it up here. Fortunately I have a company car and just keep my cruiser for the enjoyment of the outdoors and camping.

She’ll definitely get finished, I need to see how it looks painted. Also, you won the guess the power mate! I need to get your details to send out a long sleeve and some stickers!

I'm also looking to do a conversion to a 105 series. Though I'm looking to use a m57 bmw x5 engine. I'd definitely sell the diesel 105 and use a cheaper petrol version. That way you save quite a bit of cash on you conversion. Plus getting a new chassis gives you more opportunity to put out more vids. Looking forward to your next one.

That will be a sick conversion. That was on my list of possible options but the 100 came up so cheap had to buy it. I think you’re right about the petrol, means I can have another crack at the suspension and stuff and make it all that little bit nicer

Loving the videos mate! Giving me a lot of inspiration! What tyre specs are you running? Interesting to see how much a bigger tyre sucks power

Thanks mate! Hopefully saving you some time too haha. They’re a 305 70 16 so just shy of 33. I have some 35’s at home, I could swap those on and see how it goes potentially

Wills land cruiser mods channel has a 1hz to 1hdtfte conversion video, hardest part is the wiring 🤠

Nice vid mate. Hey question how much lift you running?
@onstreetgarage
@onstreetgarage 4 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Just a 2” lift and 305 tyres so 33’s pretty much

@onstreetgarage nice. I'm tossing up between 2 and 3 for mine. Yours definitely look pretty big. Mines mostly a touring rig so no need to go to big.

@Jack20585 man if it’s touring mostly 2inch is defs the go. They feel a lot more stable

Whats the max boost set at? I was under the impression that turbo could reliably supply more boost? And therefore more fuel and maybe more power?
@onstreetgarage
@onstreetgarage 5 ай бұрын
Hey mate it’s set to 15psi. It could definitely go further however I tow with it and want to keep it safe, not trying to make massive power. Could probably go 18-20psi on this turbo but didnt feel the need

I put a FTE in my FZJ. You aren't really at a disadvantage over HZJ. HZJ lacks certain features of the FZJ making the FZJ better for an engine swap, but a full body engine swap would be same same. Fuel tanks can be reused, just swap pickups. Need new fuel lines anyway. You will need a HZJ filler neck. You only need one 1HZ mount, the other is FTE. No difference in radiators, just use 1 HDJ hose and one HZJ hose. I cant remember if I used a HZJ fan shroud (I probably did). I did 4 speed to 4 speed, and simply swapped all wiring across, everything else bolt up. Custom exhaust (off the shelf). You will need to extend some front ABS wires, same for HZJ (If it has ABS). If it were me, I would sell the HZJ as is, as you say its well setup and perfectly working, so should be worth decent money. Should be able to find a cheap FZJ with a body in poor condition. I basically just bought the HZJ parts I needed (Engine mount, fuel filler neck, changeover solenoid bracket, sump, rad hose, yellow dot fan, I think that's about it (excluding service items)), and transferred everything else needed from HDJ. AHC might be a bit of an unknown in a 105, or what options there are to remove it. I can give you a run down if you message me.

You’re a legend mate this is exactly what I was hoping someone had done. I think I’ll hire the bullet. Paint my hzj and get it in tip top shape and move it on use the extra funds to get lockers and suspension in an fzj chassis and go down that road. Money from the 1hz sale will easily cover the 1hz parts I need and a few tasty mods

I found my parts list from my conversion. Its what I said, plus oil dipstick and oil pickup to suit sump. Basically about $500 in genuine parts (A few years ago however) plus $1100 for an exhaust to get it driving. I spent a further $1700 on genuine parts to replace all hoses, injector lines, timing belt etc. basically major service on engine before I dropped it in. I'd be happy to send you my list as a starting point.
