Pay is not worth it. Dentists are rude Staff is egotistical and stressed 24/7 Dentists also have the highest suicide rate in any career I’ve done this job for 10 years 19-29

im 4 months in and my job already makes me want to go to sleep and not wake up. They staff are nasty, no one listens when you are extremly stressed or in dire need of help, and the pay is just sad.

@@kristenb5177 haha yes for a dental assistant actually as that’s what I’m doing now! I started with peanuts sure but if you stick with it you can make some serious money I make what a nurse makes here now Hygienist make a little over $100K a year

⁠@@samsmokes3100I’m pretty sure no one is paying assistants $60 an hour. I’ve been an assistant for 10 years in the dc metro area and the highest paying assistant I know gets $35 as a lead. I have yet to hear anyone in my area pay more than that.

Especially if you completed the schooling and you see a colleague who just got hired on the spot with a higher income and no schooling completed wow! What a GREAT career for this who stressed in exams and proper education in bloodborne pathogens
