Those pests were working quickly in your neck of the woods! They were a bit slower to get here but they hit big middle of summer! Blister bugs popped up overnight! 😳 Fall has been so nice for a little gardening! First time I’ve ever planted for fall 😊 thanks for the inspiration! Great tip- sun pattern!

I don't have problems with insects, the deer eat everything before they show up.😪

I was ready for the slugs this year because last year I put down some slug pellets and diatomaceous earth. I think the pellets worked better. So very few slugs this year.... Until now with all the rain. Also treated the soil with baking soda where the worst of the blight occurred. The blight was slower this year just becoming a problem in the actual fruit now these passed few weeks. Kept it down by discarding all infected leaves. Again dropped the ball on that one for about a week and it traveled into the stems of the tomatoes.😢 Japanese beetles were ridiculous! Every day was out 3-4 times a day to flick then into the soapy water. The birds started to eat them so left the soap out of the containers later on as the numbers dropped.i though the other thing that helped is the variety of plants, flowers and herbs have brought in a lot of parasitic wasps etc. Even dragonflies😊. This video is a good summary for newbies and a refresher for greenies like me. ❤️🙏😊🇨🇦

Chad, This is my 2nd year doing Fall planting. Last year I only planted some kale, which I was able to harvest on & off through the whole winter & even into Spring. This year I am expanding by adding a ton of my fav lettuce,--Lolla Rossa--beets, snow peas, &, hopefully, some Baker Creek--my fav seed company--carrots to the mix! 😊

@@terrivance8750 Sounds like you have a great plan.🤗💯 I haven't had much success with Kale, so I stay away from it, but I have decided to try growing brassicas again. 🤞

We had wire worms in a long raised bed full of korean sweet potatoes a year ago. Won't be planting any root crops there for a while. Have you found anything that helps "deal" with them? I planted a grow bag with potato slips and got a beautiful clean harvest out of that this year.

The rain took many of my plants out during the summer (mildew) here in Alabama. I’m trying zucchini and squash now. I’m waiting on fruit. First frost isn’t until early November.

My god, I can not wait to actually start getting fall temps. I keep wanting to get out and work on getting the fall garden going but the only thing I've done other than seed starting indoors is refresh the soil. The heat is just kicking my butt and the recent rain brought the mosquitos. What flowers do you start in the fall?
@DownHomeBackyardGardening

@trae74 Amending is very important, so at least you've knocked that out💯🤘 I plant flowers in the spring, and they always last all year for me, so I don't plant anything new in the fall.

@@cindyinpcola have you planted any companion plants to help repel them or bring in beneficial insects that feed on those?

@@DownHomeBackyardGardening Sure have. Marigolds, basil, etc. The only natural thing helping is the assassin bugs. They are helping with the beetles but nothing else is helping. I’m doing it mostly by hand twice a day. Those pickle worms and whiteflies are the worst.
