As a model manager, the absolute greatest thing I heard from her(aside from the other great things) is she said "Think in a commercial mindset everyday... Today I'm shooting for this client or that client" even when it's person... THE FIRST thing I teach is "Mindset building when workin on being a professional model. This applies the same. Your mindset has to have higher standards in order to achieve greater results. You put your mind to it, it will come. LOVE these tips you gave thank you Lara.

Hey Lara! Thanks for the great tips. I’m currently stuck on the marketing aspect with commercial/portrait photography and am wondering if you have any additional guidance. You mention sending your work out and it being a numbers game-I have read and heard that a few different places, but I just have no idea who I am supposed to be sending my work to!! Lara -- are there any successful shooters in fashion over 50 who didn't start much earlier? I'm wondering how much age can be a block to getting hired by younger creatives.

question i have a fashion shoot tomorrow outdoors... should i go high speed sync or or strobe with no high speed sync or reflector

If shooting in brighter conditions were you need to use a larger aperture/ fast shutter speed and need to overpower the sun, the use of high speed sync would be most useful.

You could paint it different colors for different shoots. Lots of product photographers paint plywood panels for product backgrounds and infinity coves and such for portraits. You don't have to only use backdrops that hang on a rod.
