I'd actually like a CBR650R, but sadly honda only import the "learner" version to australia, which is the same bike with the power limited to HALF, making it pretty useless even to learners most of the time lol

Thanks dale, you can, and it recovers about half the difference, so clearly some other parts need changing/removing. The problem is really that in Victoria you can’t get the learner restriction removed from the registration. It was a step they brought in when they changed the learner restrictions specifically so you couldn’t just de-restrict your bike at the end of your restricted period. It’s not all stupid - the idea was that by preventing people from de-restricting, you lower the cost of used bikes for learners. But yeah, it just means it’s very annoying when a manufacturer chooses to not import the derestricted version (most import both models), especially as the 650 capacity is great for people who say to day their bikes.

And i own a YAMAHA YZF R15 A KNOWN AS YZF155 IN SOME COUNTRIES having the yamaha's vva(variable valve actuation )and legendary "R" dna racing looks aerodynamic body having the most power in its category equipped with dual channel abs and a slipper clutch what else you need. ( this is actually a 155cc yamaha sports bike fully faired has the slipper clutch has vva which is a fancy name for vtec has abs due to norms and yeah is the most powerful 150cc bike in India yup nothing more than that looks cool though Indonesian models even have upside down forks that's even cooler has a top speed of what 135 on gps and 158 on speedo pretty good i should say 0 to 100 in what 9.8 seconds or 9 secs) And i am bragging too much.

Props on the MT-07 with much improved suspension for 2018 (I know, I tried it). It's got 29 pounds less weight than the SV650, with 44cc more engine (beefy torque). Bore X stroke, compression: SV650 81.0mm x 62.6mm, 11.2:1 MT-07 80.0mm x 68.6mm, 11.5:1 It's clear the SV is 'peak power' design.

My monthly insurance payment on my 390 Duke is $45. I’m 40 and have a clean driving record. When I bought it in April, I was anticipating the payment to be a bit more but with it bundled with our auto and home insurance it dropped. Taking an Illinois MSF safety course and ABS brakes also dropped the price.

Amazing Review :) I stay in Toronto too. Just turned 25. I am planning on getting an R6 . Do i have to pay insurance for the whole year or can it be on a monthly basis for like 6 months? Half the year the weather is so trash. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks

Almost if not all insurance companies will only do a yearly contract. The way it works is most of your money goes towards the riding months, so essentially you are barely paying anything for winter. In other words if you would have found insurance that only had a 6 month contract, there wouldn't be a big price change. As for getting an R6, you better have a lot of luck finding a decent rate. Yamaha R6 is a black listed motorcycle, but give it a try. Hope this helped :)

IF anyone gives you 6 month insurance, it'll be worse value. Get the full year, cancel your policy when you're not riding, get the rebate? At least you can do that in australia, I don't know if canadian insurers don't allow it because of the weather making it more common to do?

They take 60% of the premium in the summer months of JJA . You can play around this and get insurance in September and cancel it in June , so you only pay like 40 % premium but can still get like 4 months of riding .

First year rider here. My insurance in Ontario GTA area is 4100 for a Kawasaki z650. Apparently they say the z650 is a sport bike? I'm confused. I didn't end up going for it which led me to look for a different bike. Thanks for the video.

Fast bike = higher insurance. So technically all the sport bikes are expensive to insure. Also depends on age and driving record of the person. If you really want cheap insurance on a bike, then get a cruiser.

It's just a faired standard bike, or sport tourer @@vali69. Compare it to a 600 class supersport like an R6, Zx6R, GSXR-600, CBR-600RR and it becomes really clear they are very different bikes. The power, riding position, suspension, breaking, cost, everything is more relaxed on the 650 - it's a lower revving twin with more accessible torque for one, the others are inline 4's designed to have the nuts revved off them and not a lot else going on at the low end. It's faired and has the ninja name, but in no world is it remotely a supersport. The modern naked versions of the supersports are a new class derived from streetfighters. They again use supersport platforms, but are not supersports. The engines are tuned down to rev lower and provide more accessible torque for the road, they have road suspension and breaking, an upright seating position, etc. Which is also why they're usually a lot cheaper. Supersports are road legal track bikes basically - the R6, the R1, etc. It's even debatable whether the learner bikes like the ninja400 are really supersports. They take on the look and some adopt more agressive riding position, but they also don't go as hard on the tuning and performance to be more accessible and affordable to new riders. They're definitely sports bikes, but are they supersports? Only in marketing really. And it's not even a bad thing - there's a reason there's no true supersport in the A2 class, and that's because supersport bikes are an utter ball ache off the track lol. Those streetfighters and naked and sport tourers and whatever are so, so, so much better suited to riding on the road and so much more comfortable. You want a supersport on the track, in the twisties and on the autobahn and absolutely nowhere else. But yeah, again: the Ninja 650 isn't a supersport because they used the ninja name and a pretty fairing, that's marketing. Still a good learner bike though.
