I feel like the more I read, the higher my standards get. So choosing 10 books out of a whole year of reading that I wholeheartedly loved seems really difficult to me. But everyone's list are always top 10, so I feel the pressure to come up with 10 when I really only loved five.

Amazing to see you :) I read tender is the flesh this year as well and it destroyed me and I couldn’t pick up another book for a GOOD FEW WEEKS. I read 12 books in 2021, not my best but it was definitely a year.. 😅

since the pandemic I havent red much at all but when you talked about "Adult Children Of Emotionally Immature Parents" I had a oh shit moment because thats def what I've been going through the past two years. Setting boundaries and putting healthy distance helped me personally alot but as I am sitting here crying I gues I still have a ways to go. I hope to find a place again mentally and physically to indulge in reading again as I used to and maybe more because of the joy it gives me than as an escapism and i hope natasha you have a great 2022 healing and reading wise! Whenever I think I am done with booktook one of your videos pop up and it hits the spot so thanks for that!
@myreadingisodd2 жыл бұрын
Setting boundaries is the hardest thing to do but so worth it for your heath. We will always have a ways to go with it and it's a constant ever evolving grief. I'm happy to hear that I can hit the spot for you in some sort of way. I ebb and flow and I understand that's not everyones thing but thank you for sticking with me. Cheers!

My words of tender is the flesh: unfurling horror. Just when you get drenched in the clear disgust, something else is going to come out of the shadows to repulse you. One of my favorites of the year

This is exactly accurate! Great way to describe it!

re the shop keeper selling you what you need but there’s a dark catch type of story I recommend Pet Shop of Horrors manga by Akino Matsuri, it has very similar premise and the story is partly dark and twisty and partly endearing and fun.

Cannibalism is one of the most horrifying thing to me. I don’t think I could read it. My reading year was terrible. But honestly my fav was Karin Slaughter “false witness”. If that says anything. Currently reading “dig” by as king. Great to see your face again.

Ok after watching your video instead of commenting right away. That’s wonderful that you read a book that has helped or changed you. The book list was amazing. Tender is the Flesh is why I am happy that I have stopped eating animals altogether for years. Omg. I felt sick 😷 when you were talking about it lmao 🤣

Yeah, if your biggest complaint is "ghost sex" then you're judging the surface details. Where you connected with the themes, which makes the reading experience more meaningful.

Great to see you as always ❤️ I have a lot of books I'm still in the middle of too. Last year my goal was 12 but read 36. This year my goal is 28 as that seems to be my average over the last ten years. I bet this is this one year I don't reach it cos I raised it. But we are here to enjoy and that's all that matters. I heard King brought out banger books last year which is great to hear. He's still going 😍 You: there's two women fighting and it's chef's kiss. I love this 🤣🤣❤️ Dang I should really read that Emotionally Immature book but I already had a break down around my parents at Christmas so I'm not quite ready yet 😅 Between subtle and aggressive? Vivid? Or Visural? Poiyant? Tender is the Flesh is something I really wanna read but.... How mentally is it gunna mess me up? 🤣

I just started reading Tender is the Flesh last night and I had to make myself put it down after reading 73 pages because I knew if I didn’t take a break I would quite possibly get physically sick. I love disturbing stuff, but the way its just so clinically written and blunt is….a lot. Also not sure if I’ll ever be able to eat meat again ever. But yeah, its fantastic so far, just a lot to take in at once.
@stacy44362 жыл бұрын
I also had to take a step back and ask myself if I was so horrified that humans were being slaughtered, or if I was horrified that this is the way the meat industry views animals and we just accept it because it’s just always been a thing. Either way, what a book to start out my 2022 reading journey 😳
