Motorhead box set and Iron Maiden box set are two of my most cherished out of my collection. Both SO good and long oop. Nice post, Brendon. Edit #1: Iron Maiden originally put out A Real Live One and A Real Dead One out as single cds and now can only get as A Real Live Dead One in two cd format.

Yes I own both separately and prefer them in their own packaging. I’m not a fan of double disc live albums. But I do like single disc live albums.

Yeah I’ve always loved the Motorhead box. So glad it was done at the time. I’m hoping they do an updated version at some point covering the whole career.

I have the Eddie’s Archive. The Beast Over Hammersmith is the best live disc I’ve never heard them play faster and with more energy. It is a crowning achievement. :)

Yeah it’s a real fave of mine. TBH I’m surprised they have never issued the discs individually. Especially since the boxset is out of print. But it also shows that they are true to their fans. They released it once and they aren’t going to reissue it endlessly to cash in either.

Fortunately a year ago I managed to get a copy of that Best of the B sides from a third party seller on Amazon so I actually own a copy of that. I thought it was an out of print individual release, I had no idea it originally came in this boxset.

Very impressive, Brandon. Those are amazing sets. You have a terrific retirement nest egg. I tell ya buddy. Once I hit 65 I’m sitting in my favourite sofa and punching the tunes all day. :)

@@BrendonSnyder I myself try to go the same route, but work and being a family man suppress that big time! Lol. I average an 1hr and a half, which is my train rides to and from work. Weekends are tough. Usually exhausted by 9:30pm. Having a kid is such a game changer when it comes to your energy levels. ;)

Got the megadeth and maiden box sets, sold my copy of the Motörhead one sadly! Another couple of good ones I’ve got are the big 4 live in Bulgaria and Metallica’s orgullo box live in Mexico! Enjoyed your video 🤘🏻

Brendon those “European” CD cases you refer to when displaying the Metallica bonus disc jewel cases are actually the go to style cases for SACD / Super Audio CD as well as DVD Audio discs. Almost all SACD and DVD-A media is housed in that style jewel case…pretty cool when bands use them for standard compact discs. I geek out about presentation upgrades like that as well. That Slayer box set is a favorite in my personal collection and tied for first place with the 2013 box set released by The Clash “Sound System” 11 CDs + 1 DVD housed in a boom box themed box filled with memorabilia. Slayer and The Clash - I listen to everything!

@@BrendonSnyder When I used to write album reviews for Pulse Niagara, I got a really nice boxed set of cassettes from Slayer, of a live show. I was trying to find it to give to my son. It was a nice package, with a booklet and photos and stuff. I don't know where is is. I moved a lot in the late 90's, and many things were lost or stored in boxes somewhere, I'm sure I still have it. Some of my stuff got water damaged. Makes me angry to this day. I do have "Reign In Blood" and "Seasons In The Abyss" on vinyl. I can't say I was a huge fan. Slayer was a bit too dark for me. I preferred Metallica and Maiden and Priest, but they are a great band. They are my son's favourite.

Great collection! As you know, Metallica has Live Shit boxset (especially a huge VHS boxset version) which is one of the greatest live album I think, but Death Magnetic boxset is still cool enough and maybe it's rarer than Live Shit.

I’ve got the Live Metallica boxset as well but the Death Magnetic box is rarer. But aside from that it’s the demos, documentary and memorabilia that’s included that I feel makes it’s a better boxset than the live one. Both are good though and worthy to own.

Hi Brendon!! those are really cool boxsets, loved Slayer's and Motorhead ones, specially when they came in jewel cases so you can put them with the other cd in your collection. I have Eddie's boxset, but got the red edition, had no idea there was a blue one and the family treeare numered..... the live shows are all amazing, to me one of the highlights, apart from the "Beast over Hammersmith" are the live recordings of SSOASS.... cheers and be well

Had to pick up the Slayer box used unfortunately and I don't think the back card was on there? Could be wrong, It's been a while...never seen the Motorhead box before, very nice. I love my box sets, have quite a few of the book style long format, not metal though. Thanks for a great vid

Well for $4 that’s a good deal music wise. But for me I need the complete packaging. I usually skip over CD’s like that if they’re missing something.

You have to be coming close to 12,000 CD’s in your collection. That would be a special show when you hit that milestone you could pick your top ten of the 1000 CD’s that brought you to 12k.

Believe it or not I don’t typically add a 1,000 a year. 2020 was out of the ordinary. And COVID created inordinately circumstances being home with all that extra time. Typical I add around 500 a year. But that’s only in recent years.

They have been releasing individually vinyl boxsets focused around an album or two. My issue is that they’re only available on vinyl and not on CD! 😂

@@BrendonSnyder I feel your pain I was an avid CB collector until I got my first vinyl set and now basically switched over. Eitherway I am for both forms of physical media as long as people keep buying physical media they will continue producing it.

Brendon I still have a sealed copy of that Metallica box. It has a transparant sticker with Metallica 'Death Magnetic' in silver writing on it.

Yes, it was sold also in stores, at least here in Spain, I bought one when they drop the price to 49€ at Fnac. They had various tshirt sizes too

I have the Death Magnetic CD, which I really enjoyed at the time, and later I bought a DVD of a live show they did in Quebec, called "Quebec Magnetic." Really good concert! I guess Metallica are very popular in La Belle Province, and I think they have filmed two DVDs there, In Quebec City.
