Nice video and also to all those watching, I would highly recommend Hero Time Manufacturing! My wife and I developed out first game last year which we then took to Kickstarter, and we had no clue what we were doing In terms of making it a reality - Hersh offered incredible support throughout the whole process right up until the final delivery of 1500 copies! Awesome company for new designers!! 👍

The thing that pushes me to keep working on my design is actually working on multiple games at the same time. Having multiple different design in the works allows to use more of the ideas you get. What usually happens is you try to solve something for A and end up with a solution for B. Love your videos, keep it up !

OATH we are so dang excited for it. Loved the video!! it’s great when you find inspiration in both, other games, but also anywhere in the world around you! and your card mechanic idea reminds me of the game Arboretum! It’s got a similar thing where you play a card but also have to discard a card which becomes available to all other players!! 🙌🏻 it’s a cool mechanic and i’m excited to see how you integrate it into your game 👍🏻
@NewBoardGameDesign3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, my man! Also appreciate the tip about Arboretum. I’ll check it out to see what I can glean from it. Let’s hang soon.

@@BeingFriends The mechanic reminds me of Steve Finn's designs, specifically Biblios and Herbaceous. Both of them have you drawing cards and choosing whether you want to keep them or make them something the other players will interact with. Great video! I love your ideas and can't wait to see where you go with them Jesse!

I've recently been pretty inspired as of late and just watched all of your videos! It's great to see a creators perspective and process! I hope you keep up the videos to keep the inspiration flowing! I've been playing lots of games and Leder Games games are regularly occurring in our rotation of games so they are definitely the right ones to be taking design bits from! I have a few ideas for games rattling around in my head, but whenever I'm brainstorming for them I feel I am getting too ambitious with ideas i.e, too many mechanics, cool component ideas, the concept of the game. I also constantly worry my ideas might be too similar to things that already exist and if I'm wasting time writing down ideas for games that exist already! Anyways, I hope to see more of your videos in the future, maybe more often too! Keep working hard, your game sounds like the exact kind of thing my family, friends, and I would love to play!!!

Hey Jesse!! Thanks for the videos and updates. Me and my longtime friend are working on creating a game and its cool to see your volgs and prototypes because where currently on the stage of practicing our mechanics. But I don't know if this matters to you any more but there's a tabletop game called "Gaslands Refueled" its a rule book and there are dice rolls but they use symbols and when you roll you see what symbols you get and you can choose what you want to use and if you get a negative roll you can sacrifice one of your good ones to get rid of that one. I'm not explains it well but look up "Gaslands Refueled by osprey games

What's your coffee/water grind info that you use for your coffee? You should start looking at solo games as inspiration. One example, of many, is Discover - Lands Unknown. Super hyped, with the whole "unique games" gimmick, and those high expectations eventually lead to it's disappearance among content creators. PM me and I'd be more than happy to send you my copy, it's not a great game, but, it may spark something for you. GL on your design process and this channel, but most importantly, tell me your coffee ratios! Currently, I'm using a medium roast, medium grind, at 35g coffee with 375g water with 30 sec bloom totalling around 4.5 minute brew. It needs help. PS. could talk a lot about Jamie's IP desire for the Red Rising game. It's pure passion, brought to fruition, and yes, it could happen to you too.
