This is a video I have been waiting for a very long time! I am part German and found some of my uncles coins he gave me 20 yrs ago. I have a 1961 1 Deutsche Mark J,1949 5 pfennig G or C not sure it looks so close. 1950 10 pfennig D,1960 Max Planck 2 Deutschland mark J. thanks again for an informative video JB!

In West-Germany the mint mark C doesn't excists (it was used by the mint Frankfurt/Main until 1879)

OMG !!! My coin dealer in my corner in Canada just sold us is full bucket of wold coins ! for 100 Dollard ! And I got alll the one that you are showing ! The big silver one , and many more.... The leaves & plants referenced on German coins are from oak trees. I think it's one of the white oak species. I forgot exactly why. I think it has to do with strength & longevity towards a stable future. That's one of those things I was taught as a child so long ago. I could be off in my remembering it, but I do specifically remember that they were oak leaves & oak trees.

Got from my husband 3 weeks ago a bucket full of all over the Wold coins lol ..Well We got a flee market in here in my little town in Canada and , now and then my husband bring me a small bag of American Canadian coins ...So He make me a Special kind of coins ? All mixed ..ok start to look at it and ask him to bring me more lol And the Guy in the coins collection said hey ....100 buck for that bucket ? so he did make a deal .....lol now ive got from like 2 3 thousands of all around the Wold ! so I was yep like OK ? but not to much interest in it ...because I do not know NOTHING about those coins ...But pretend I was like Wow ! He saw that I was not realy in it ...well in the good way he love it ! So we seach in the bunch and find things that we do not know nothing about ? History ,ect and its fun to learn things that we discover from those coins ....And Thank You for many of your good info explaining so well about coins .... And p.s My Husband works so hard that we can not be togheter most of the time ....But hey he take some free time to dig in those coins and partage is finding with me ....We are Married for now 35 yrs with 2 kids now just about adult so we got more time and fun with lol coins .....Sorry my English is not to good in wrything Canadian French well that is a little story that I felt to share .....:)

Love the Video! Could you please do one explaining the German Mints through the years you described? Perhaps something on the eras of the ...standard German monetary systems. If memory serves they had individual states and cities producing coinage until about the late 1880s, sometime after their Unification in 1871.
