I liked _Love in a Fallen City_ and _Lust Caution_ very much, and need to pick up more Chang. Everything else you’ve talked about sounds interesting.

I've been looking for Lust, Caution but it doesn't seem to be available here, but will keep an eye out for it.

I have really enjoyed the novels I have read by James Salter so far - they achieve a kind of intensity that is rarely found. I have his collected stories on the shelf so it sounds like I should get to those this year. Anyone being mentioned alongside Raymond Carver is a must read (and I would put Tobias Wolff there).

Yeah, Salter is a real master of the short story, let me know what you think after you read a few.

Hard Rain Falling and Lord of Dark Places introduced me to an american literature scene that I was completely ignorant of. An americana of sorts that goes beyond the Kerouacs and the McCarthies.

I don't know Lord of Dark Places, will have to check that out.
