I came here to push the 👍 Well, and to watch the video. Then probably comment... Yes, there's always bottles on the hit list, even when not hunting. Every store I go into it they have Parker's Heritage, any BTAC, EH Taylor's, Old Fitz, any Heaven Hill age stated, JD Heroes, etc.. I'm not necessarily hunting them, but always have my eyes out for them.

I love your list. The only one I don't get anymore is the four gate. it's pricey. I like them, but I feel juice and price don't match up. Oooh I don't see Elijah Craig BP private barrels. Now I hope to see one someday. thanks a bunch. love your videos. cheers

haha, you were probably the very first person to mention it to us. And at that time we hadn't had anything decent from Old Elk yet. But after like a dozen people recommending that specific bottle over the months to follow... I mean at that point, it's got to be on the list, right? 🤷 Yes, we're idiots, but you already knew that.

That bottle of four gate might be a temporary cure for Kira's headaches! That bottle isn't any bigger than usual they just shaved around the base so it looks bigger.

I know everyone has a different palate, but to me everything from old elk tastes like the juice you'd find in the bottom of a dumpster. Even tried it in an old fashioned on a trip to Colorado and it was by far the worst old fashioned I've ever had lol

After we bought our first bottle of Old Elk, we refused to get another. It was their standard offering, and we were NOT fans. Actually we just had a friend giving us sh*t about this video, cuz he remembered offering to get us some different Old Elk bottles a couple years ago, and we outright told him No, lol. About a year ago we decided to try it again, this time though bumping all the way up to OE Cigar Blend. Initially I really liked it, but I didn't have a lot of other cigar blends to compare it against. Note: Kira did NOT like the Cigar Blend. Over the last year I've changed my opinion, liking that OE Cigar Blend less and less. It ain't bad, but it also ain't worth $130. We literally had no less than a dozen people tell us to try OE Double Wheat. People who said they don't like anything else from OE except the Double Wheat. I was pleasantly surprised that Kira liked it. I think it's solid - definitely the best thing we've had from OE. At $100, it's not going to change your life, but if you want to have a decent OE offering to round out your home bar, I wouldn't recommend against this bottle. That said, Weller 107 is better, and if you have friends in Ohio, you can get that for $55 or $60.

How does the new Four gate stand up to older stuff? I'm wary of these expensive sourced whiskey bottlers that have amazing whiskey to create a name but slowly release less and less quality batches because they are running out of stock from their high demand.

Kira loves the newer releases we've owned (which admittedly is not many - the Andalusia Key Rye & Key II, and a few of the more recent Kelvin Collabs) ...and she has gotten the opportunity to sample many of the older, more renowned batches (thanks to B. Benson, who is a phenomenal human being). Some of those older batches - in my mind, there's no way to recreate those. To call them special might not do it justice. That said, I think they're still doing great things. If you like FG, you'll continue to like FG. On the flip side, if you thought that FG is expensive for what it is ($200 a bottle) in the past, you'll likely still continue to think that it's expensive for what it is. For us, FG is for special occasions. We don't buy them very often. This Andalusia Rye was Kira's Valentine Day gift 🥃🥃

haha, tell me about it! FGs are special occasion whiskeys for us. Like special occasion as in, gifts. Kira got this one for Valentine's Day. But I always have my eye out for a good price on an FG because Kira likes them so much. But yeah, no, I can't just go around buying them whenever I want to. Bourbon outfitters running a 20% sale on all Four Gates was key. And my opinion slowly changed on that old elk cigar blend. At first I really liked it, but over time (and comparing it next to a couple of other cigar blends) ...my opinion changed. No, I don't think the old elk cigar blend is worth more than $100. But I know the price will stay north of $100 because of all the finishes they're putting on it.

Getting a Pingree pick was basically the genesis of this video. We're not hunters, but we've had 'Pingree pick' on our minds and on our list for probably 2 years. Basically ever since we got a chance to taste a black label and a blue label. And we are not disappointed with ours - really damn good. 🥃🥃

Our local mid Michigan Meijer is actually renowned. Forget who told us this, but someone confirmed that our local Meijer is one of the top Meijers in the country when it comes to getting good whiskey. 🤷 And those few bottles of blue run high rye just sat there on the shelf for $90 for weeks.

Remus vii is not good. Loses in blinds regularly. It’s available just about anywhere because it is very average especially for the price.

Kira likes 7 more than I do (something you'll see in an upcoming video). I think the rye is just too prominent in Remus 7. We love high rye mash bills and blends, but something about R7 - the rye just sort of sticks out like a sore thumb. 🤷 🥃🥃
