My go to MP3 player is an old RCA TH-2014. Not a LOT of storage and it only supports WAV and MP3, but that's all I need for music. Literally. My old iPod Nano 4th gen was great, but this has JUST what I need for music.

Too cool - it's always awesome to hear which MP3 players people are using.

My god I'm not alone. I still stick with my MP3 player and my flip phone. If it ain't broke don't ix it. I like the sansa clip personally, it's super compact and the battery lasts a good long while. For me my phone is meant for two things, phone calls/texts and the occasional picture in case I need a reference photo of something. By keeping a separate device for music just as you said it removes the likelihood that I'll damage my phone, keeps it's storage space clear and will never drain my phones battery. What service provider do you use for your phone? I picked up a Docomo SH-o2L I got from Japan but haven't had too much luck getting it to work over stateside. The last one I owned worked perfectly until it got stolen and since then I've had no luck with my new one.

Hey there Isatis! Thanks for sharing your story! I appreciated the read. As far as my carrier as of right now, I use ATT; but note that thanks to good ol' capitalism, we'll be seeing much less of these beautiful phones due to the network carriers shutting down their "older" networks. All of the big players are bringing out the scythe by the end of next year; ATT first in February; T-Mobile by June, and Verizon is somewhere in the middle. And of course, even the smaller carriers operate as subs under the big players; so once they're gone, they're gone... Your phone is probably a 2G or less which explains why it doesn't work. It's ridiculous that they are planting this nonsense moving forward, but I suppose there's unfortunately not much that we can do...

I just dusted off my Sony NWZ-X1060 from 2009 as I left my phone at someone's house. I was blown away by the sound quality, far superior than any modern smartphone. The old songs also brought back some great memories of my 20s! I think I'll be using it a lot more.

Ronnie, That's a pretty awesome story friend! I agree 100% on the sound quality; I just wish the EQ was a bit more in depth. As for discovering those old songs... Is there a greater pleasure than reliving your times through your musical journeys? I think not!

Ha you can say that again Killermetal! I honestly don't really understand how/why these things were "phased" out... I mean... Come on, really? I hate the idea of using the internet for "Streaming" music. Never have, NEVER WILL!!

@@SGVirtusAuthor agree with streaming for music. Remember when we had cds? I still have mine. The actual cd sounds better than online.

@@SGVirtusAuthor and i hate smart phones but i use one haha, well i did have a flip phone but it broke and now, I'm having a hard time finding one for boost mobile, good company, at one point, i did have straight talk by tractone, tracfone and virgin mobile, a few years ago, but they were all too expensive, and plus, virgin mobile only carries iPhones and their plans changed or something, so... I think that boost mobile is cheaper. Some day, I'll get back to a flip phone, i recently deleted a few apps on my smart phone, not necessary to have all those apps when you don't need them and I mostly have two apps that i use, the rest of them came with the phone.

@@suisoneyuh I am not unfortunately in the United States... So much so that I've been thinking about selling it with the replacement pieces I bought for it, which includes the new front screen glass, the back glass, and battery. All of these plus a formatting, puts this baby in almost new condition again.
