I am a orangie, yellowish sort of amber coloured pine lover. I’ve got quite the collection of solid pine end tables, coffee tables, cabinets. The big square coffee table was naturally distressed by small grandchildren using it as an “office desk” and toy surface when we were the daycare space. The old pine colour compliments my love of warm orange comfort inducing colours in general. That said, I loved all the iterations of pine here, especially the first big heavy piece. Great work Angie.

Angie, I discovered your channel about a year ago and love everything you do. Lately I have watched a few similar furniture restorers and find that I often compare their work to yours. Many skip the steps you take, like sanding before cleaning and not paying attention to details. They don't take the same care that you do. And most don't share the same personality and thoughtful design. Thank you!

Great tutorial. Love your positive and encouraging guidance. Well done. They all look beautiful. As someone who grew up in the 70's I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see that heavy pine, mass produced, bulky furniture that was everywhere and really, pretty hard to look at, take it's rightful place in the "desirable" category with a rework that you execute so well and make it look so simple. So much better than discarding it as a throw away.

My favorite piece of furniture is my great grandmother’s Victorian-era pine dresser (has the attached mirror on a swivel if you know what I’m talking about. My mom put it in my bedroom when I was little-painted it white to go with a gawdawful amount of pink in the room (pink sheets, bedspread, lamps, curtains-it was like waking up in a bottle of Pepto Bismol). Anyway, the dresser came along with me as an adult, and years ago I had a pro strip off the white, treat the wood so it was more hydrated, and stain it with a walnut tone.

That was wonderful to watch, and a bit nostalgic. My father owned a traditional pine furniture mnfting company in the 60-70s. It was all that dark, bulky furniture. Our house was of course filled with it. No, I don't have any of that in my home, but the family members that still live in the house we grew up in still have the original 5' round kitchen table.

Inspirational indeed - pine is, in my mind, like pink or chum salmon, no where near the quality of silver, red, or king salmon (wild Alaskan, of course!), but you turned those pink salmon pieces into some mighty fine furniture, especially that incredible faux apothecary. King salmon baby!

@TranscendFurnitureGallery6 ай бұрын
I hear ya. But not all wood is created equal. Some is poor quality and actually meant to be covered, whether that’s with thick toners and glazes and finish, or paint. Natural wood is not always the best scenario (and people have been painting Wood furniture for thousands of years, not only the last ten, which a lot of people seem to forget).

I really loved the first piece. The change in focus with the light stain really brought out the curves and gave the piece a brighter feel. I don’t know if the coloring of the 2 nightstands in real life is the same as they appear in the video, but on the reveal scene the finish coloring is almost identical to the vase on the left one. FYI Angie, I never got a notification for this video. I came across it by chance, This platform is getting really wonky. I love the way you always point out important information like the necessity of priming until the staining does not show through, even it if takes multiple layers. Great results as always. And love seeing your helper with four paws: precious baby footage of Nacho 😺❤ Thank you for shaing. I am generally not a fan of rustic for my own home but I love the way the barn finish turned out on the night stands and the apothecary dresser is superb! A lot of people would not spend 20 minutes per drawner freshening every surface but it truly is the difference between perfectionism and just okay. And the third life for the final piece really is classy. You always get great results because you are the rare person willing to go the extra mile. You are raising the bar for everyone who is re-doing furniture !

You have inspired me on ways to treat them to fit with the new decor in the my flat I moved into. wow. What a transformation for the 1st one. THe stain for the wood was an interesting blend. That was a great to learn. On the second one… glad to see these done. I have the ones you showed from online. The Lyla. I found a single and then held onto it hoping I would find another single. And I did! And at a great price. So I’m super happy. I liked the new look. The red is not as attractive. The third is one I remember well. Really liked that one as well. I love the apothecary looks. And the old version is gross. I hate that glossy look as welll. Awww… number 4. I remember that one well. I knew as soon as you using the heat gun it was going to start smoking. And then this wheels. I love this industrial style look on this piece. I also remember being really confused about the different colors you were doing on the drawers. LOL. Love that piece. One of my faves. And soooo different from where you started with it. Hard to believe it’s the same piece. # 5. It looks similar to a piece I have been working on. I did kinda the same thing as you did the first time around. Mine has some more drawers. 5 small across the top. I restained the top and the top 5 drawers. I’ve been trying to remember to seal any bare wood because of what you talked about in this video. I liked the original you had… it’s similar to mine. But when I look at mine… It’s just missing something. I haven’t found the just right hardware yet.I like the gold ones you used. It just looks so much better. Classier. Great compilation.

This was awesome! I really really liked the last two. I liked the apothecary piece especially b/c of how much the grain stood out once you stained it. I didn't know pine could do that, so I really appreciate you teaching me about how a soft wood takes stain differently than a harder wood. And the painted piece was amazing! I don't usually go in for that, but it was really cool to see you do it two different ways and it come out so different than the original. I also was such a huge fan of the finished product! So cool to see what a difference a slight change of color and different hardware can make. And of course, the tlc and imagination of a true artist. I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically.
