At 75 years old lost 80 lbs over the past two years. Now weigh what i did when I finished basic training in the AF at 18 years old. Lots of stamina. Power walk 5k every day. I am in final rewrite on my dystopian novel. Also, attending college (already have a Masters) and learning photography and videography. Will be starting a new business this month. Thank you Keto.

60 years old, and have been ketogenic for nearly 3 years. I have reversed my fatty liver, my acid reflux, my gallbladder attacks, my inflammation in my knees and feet, swelling/water retention, and most of all no asthma. My family tells me that I act and behave younger than I did in my 30s, 40s, and 50s. This is a way of life, and I’m truly living life now.

Interesting....my knee stiffness just declined dramatically over last 3 weeks of doing beginner grade keto. Don't know if there is clear cause and effect....but there might be some correlation. Just lost 5-6 pounds (have been trying the exercise route which failed over 3 year period)

It's now been over three years and I have maintained my weight and continue to be in ketosis. One thing that has helped me through it all was that I never considered keto a diet plan. For me, it is a lifestyle change. No cheat days - no going back, because there is no back.

I’m 54, and coming up on a year of Keto (Nov). At about the 7 month mark, something shifted in my body and I started feeling so good! I think that there was a lot of internal healing going on before that (fatty liver, insulin resistance). My hubby is mostly Keto now, and our friends have said that we both look like we are getting younger 😂😂 My mom and my sister are now on board, another sister has been Keto for about a year and a half 😊 This is for life, so we have to think long term, not quick fix 😊 ~~Keto since Nov 2017, down 60 lbs (my actual total is 77 down from my highest weight) with about 45 more to go 👍😉 I thank God for leading me to the info about Keto last year!

It's great to hear! I just started in June, but fortunately for me the results were instantaneous - energy increased dramatically, but most significantly my mood. It made it so easy to go on. As you I feel so fortunate to have discovered this way of eating; still it's kind of sad to think about how it came across - coincidentally watching KZbin...this should be taught on a national level from childhood! Good luck to you all.

Thank you Drs. Becky and Keith. I am 65 years old and have lost 17 lbs. on the Keto diet. I am doing IF 16:8 and sometimes 18:6. I did have a plateau of about a month when I reached 190 lbs. down from 205, my original weight when I started Keto. But I didn't give up. So this week I'm down to 188 lbs. I realize now that doing IF every day and skipping breakfast is the key. I had been doing IF only 2 or 3 times a week. You guys are my favorite go-to channel to get reliable info. I do get a lot of negative comments when I say I am eating more fat (good fats, of course) . But, as the saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding." Thank you for all you do.

I’m 63. I switched fr low carbs, low fats, hi veggies only to figure my brain was screaming for fats!! I increased a little carbs because I was only 45 kg the same weight I was as a teenager! I’m including grass fed butter, avocado oil (I don’t like the taste of the fruit tho), coconut oil, omega 3, nut/seed butters. Sourdough bread only. And including more salt . Sauerkraut. Coconut cider vinegar (a few times a week). All natural forms of vitamins.

71/disabled Vet with mobility issues and a lifetime of being overweight. Constant pain (22+ surgeries) fused lumbar and left leg. Started keto 10/01/21 and have had lost 30 lds so far (233lds start now around 200) with a goal of 165ld for optimum health. I struggle on occasion and hunger is always taunting me to cheat. I stay the course and push through. In fact I have a coffee mug with just those words on it that I use for my green tea. My best advise. The alternative is pain...sadness and death. I chose happiness and life. That helps keep me focused and on track. Be patient. It takes time..so did getting fat.

I really credit you two to for figuring all this out. It is hard at over 50 to change those thought processes. All the keto dieters that I had seen were doing loads of bacon, fast food burgers with no bun, loads of fat. You taught me to do this in what I consider a healthy and sensible way with a big salad at lunch and cooked veggies at supper. I can't thank you enough!! I have 12 pounds to go. I can't believe it! It has slowed down but I never dreamed I would have gotten this far!

As many others have said before, you guys are so on target and great together. I’m 58 and had been suffering in my 50s from all the stuff mentioned before in Dr. Becky’s videos. I went to my doctor in September and it was not good at all. I had high insulin levels, high blood pressure, high LDL levels and felt terrible most days. Now I’ve never been extremely over weight but was over weight still and my body was a mess basically. I’ve been on Keto for two weeks now and have gone from 227lbs to 220. My weight is changing and I just feel better. Went back to my doc and he said whatever I was doing I should stick with it and maybe I would reach my goal weight of 200lbs by January 2020. Btw, all my numbers were the best he’d ever seen them and I was so pleased by that news, so nobody will ever convince me that Ketogenic dieting is not the answer. Also I was suffering from aches and pain all the time before Keto and now all that pain is gone. No I don’t have as many BMs as I used to, nor do I eat as much as I used to either, so there you go! Thank you for all of this valuable and life changing information! I think you’re helping thousands of people so please, I can’t thank you enough!🙏

Dr. Jason Fung says that back in the 70's and prior, we ate (or skipped) our breakfast, there was no mid morning snack at school, packed our lunch, if we wanted a snack after school, our parents said " no, you'll ruin your dinner," and after dinner if we wanted a snack our parents would say, "you should have eaten more dinner" lol, that's why many more people weren't overweight.

Great video - Very useful. Before starting Keto, I thought that skipping breakfast would be too difficult and unsustainable. How wrong I was. Since bringing lots of good fats into my diet - and drastically lowering carbs - I'm hardly ever hungry. Skipping breakfast is a walk in the park and I don't have my first meal until around 2pm each day. After only four weeks, I'm down to two meals a day, fasting on an 18:6 regime. It's early days for me but I can definitely feel good things happening inside me.

Enjoy you guys! Love the husband/wife conversational style. I have to say that although reducing carbs is hard, hard, hard, and I’ve not been a star student, intermittent fasting has been one of the easier habits I’ve made. I’ve done it for 1-1/2 years. It makes me feel good not to have food in my belly all the time, I like giving my digestive system a break, and my blood glucose has been 👍🏼.

I’ve found reducing carbs quite easy. Don’t buy them, don’t have them in your house, and don’t put them in your mouth. What’s hard about that? Pay attention to how good your body feels when you don’t consume them. Train yourself to appreciate that.

I am 66 years young and have lost 70lbs on keto...I started day one with intermittent fasting 16 hrs and 2 meals a day...then over the 6 1/2 mos it took me to lose the weight I cut down my extra fat intake and started eating just one meal a day with about 20 - 22 hrs fasting it help me break several plateaus. I feel so good and I am off of my blood pressure medicine after being on it for over 30 years....I still can't believe that...I have tried and tried to get off of it....so I am 66 years young and take no meds. The only thing I have noticed is I look like a deflated balloon..I have saggy creepy skin but I am hoping by fasting longer I can have some autophagy going on to help..honestly I would rather have the deflated skin and health. I and thinking about doing a 36 hr fast a couple times a month ... I just want to be sure it's ok to do at my age....any suggestions? Keto is so easy...no hunger and no craving...a lot of energy...and it's just like liposuction :)

Yes, keto is beneficial for post-menopausal women. It is preventing endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of uterus with bleeding just like a period just when we thought all that stuff was over) from returning for me - the condition often becomes cancerous if left untreated. Progesterone decreases after menopause so the estrogen becomes dominant, so also taking maintenance/low-dose Provera (progesterone). (Was on high dose Provera initially, until the lining shed, then I switched to keto and low-dose Provera). Just had latest 6-month ultrasound to confirm the lining is still normal. Thankful for my doctor and an alternative treatment because the "normal" treatment is a "D&C" surgery or hysterectomy. It is all related and part of the female insulin resistance/estrogen dominance response along with PCOS/infertility from younger years. I wish we understood back then what we know now about the full metabolic syndrome -- it is systemic. My life would have been so much different if we had known all this sooner.

How can I get my doctor on board? He seems very hesitant about keto. He's well up on studies, but because I'm diabetic, he assumes I'll have heart trouble, and keeps adding medications such as statins to protect me. A couple of years ago I lost 50 lbs going low carb. I gained back about 15 eating junk. Now I'm going fully keto and expect great things. It would be nice to have his support. The other day my gynecologist told me to eat free range eggs and grass fed beef and butter! Some of them are getting it!

Results speak louder to the drs. Hubby is diabetic but when he loses weight his A1C gets better. If the numbers are getting better they'll have to lower meds or get him off them eventually. 😊

Thank you for this! Today my work team has a spread of apples with assorted toppings. People were giving me a hard time about not indulging once in awhile. I explained that I am no longer pre diabetes and off metformin but they still made me feel guilty for not joining. So hard at times.

1. Due respect Susan, you must not be very old. I'm old enough I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about this. 2. If # 1 is not convenient, "My doctor has me on a VERY strict elimination diet so I'm not allowed ANY deviation right now."

I’m 68 and have lost 40 pounds to date. I’m in good health, walk daily and eat a very low-carb or keto diet. My weight loss has become stalled for several weeks now at 185 pounds and being only 5’8” I would like to take off another 10-15 pounds of belly fat. Any tips to re-start my weight loss to get off those stubborn last few pounds?

gjmantle Have you tried intermittent fasting? Not as difficult as it sounds. I’ve progressed to eating when hungry but after 1 or 2 pm and before 7 pm. GUIDELINES not set in stone but it works 90% of the time, I just don't get very hungry. IF I do get hungry after that I have a cup of Better Than Boullion Chicken broth. In fact after 6 PM and I forgot to eat today. Had a ribeye 🥩 yesterday. Literally trying to decide if I’m hungry or not. Good luck EDIT - At around 7 p.m. came home and cooked another ribeye.

Traditional dietary advice is not based on science, it is based on the recommendation of a political committee headed by Senator George McGovern. I began keto at 66. It has been great for me.

Thank you both for for the awesome and informative videos! At almost 55yo I have dropped 35lbs over 5 months by IF, 16/8, 18/6 and 20/4 plus cutting sugar, refined carbs and processed food to almost zero. I'm at 207lbs and feel great!.. Doc cut my BP meds in half, and am working to reverse a NAFL diagnosis.. 2 most noticeable benefits have been better mental focus and easier time getting out of bed for work each morning! (more energy)

Great vid, I've also been listening to Dr. Eric Berg and learning a lot. I'm 64 years old and a Keto beginner. In one week I've lost 13 lbs. I'm morbidly obese with bad knees. First week of Keto the things I noticed were...sleeping better, less inflammation and pain in joints, tons more energy. Dr. Berg suggested for those of us older folks with slower metabolism to do one meal a day with intermittent fasting...this seems to work for me because I'm not an early eater and never hungry until late afternoon. The trick for me is trying to get high fat, low carb and balance the macronutrients all in one meal so I'm not depriving myself of needed nutrients. Also, drinking a gallon of water a day is a struggle, but so far so good though. I do take a daily vitamin that helps. Still learning a lot, thanks for these videos.

I take a little issue with your first point; you can't skip breakfast. Breakfast means break fast - whenever you eat it, so you eventually do need to break your fasting time. We were just improperly taught that Breakfast always happened early in the morning and that it meant lots of sugar and grains.

Over 50 - thinking back going to the gym and having rice without butter and a plain grilled chicken breast! Munching on rice cakes and not seeing results and was always hungry! Now I can skip breakfast and sometimes lunch and have a decent Keto dinner and even a decadent dessert so much more satisfying and losing weight to boot!

Lost ~100 pounds over the period of about 15 months (so far, and keto around 12 months), beginning when I was 54, through keto and fasting. Returned to lifting weights and other exercise (besides walking, which I was already doing) to retain muscle as I continue to get leaner (at some point, thinking in terms of weight is counterproductive, and actually, you'll want to think about retaining muscle.) Diabetes-A1c was over 6.7 for about a month-was 4.9 within six months of being diagnosed, at 7.2. Inflammation from degenerative disc disease, almost non-existant most days, and never any more "worst headache you ever had" waking me up in the middle of the night. Eczema, gone. Neuropathy in my feet and eyes, gone. Allergy-like symptoms, gone. Most of this happened very early in the process. Energy, up (through the roof.) Sleep is better. Waking up eager to face the world. Exercise is fun again. LIFE is fun again. These things, the positives, over and above the ending of the negatives, just keep getting better. Don't think we get healthy by losing weight. Losing weight is a marker of getting healthy.

McDonalds fries are worse than you think. Read Ray Kroc's story. He discovered that pre-soaking the fries in sugar water, caused them to brown better than just frying plain potatoes. They still do that today, but use Dextrose and water to soak them at the factory before flash freezing and sending to the Franchisees.

That's a big one for me too. Eating fat makes you fat. Just in the last three months I have been researching and studying the ketogenic eating plan. Very hard to change mindset, but I'm succeeding. I'm a backpacker at 67yo. I have seen increased energy and performance on long thinking days, 10 to 12 hours. I'm usually so tired I dont eat a lot of calories, but increased my fat calories and it amazing how little I eat and how much less food I need to carry. Now that fall and winter is here, and outdoor activities are slowing I'm looking to join a gym for the first time in my life. Do you have any episodes about gym workouts and ketogenic meal and for highly active senior men. Thanks, you guys are very enjoyable to watch. And it is 26 years, Hahaha

Skip breakfast 3-5 days a week and when you do eat it a couple of eggs and spinach with avocado and cheese or bacon. If that’s not enough skip 2 meals as it gives time to your body to use up your extra glucose and insulin. Eating fatty fish a few times a week at least with butter or healthy (avocado, olive, coconut) oil, lots of greens everyday, I actually make egg and tuna or salmon cupcakes for breakfast at times, so many recipes online. Deglaze and Use cream for gravy in the pan you made your meat in. No grain flours at all.

I am 62 yrs of age, I have had Hypothyroidism for over 40yrs. Before the Keto diet I was eating about 1200 calories per day and running 30-40 miles a week for a year, I didn't lose a single lb. This is my thirteenth month being on a Keto diet and have loss 50 lbs. Note: for me I found I have to be around 1000 cals per day and 12 grams of carbs or less AND one meal per day in order to decrease weight.
